#1. Misc Items Still For Sale - from Riley, Scott

Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2002 16:13:50 -0600 From: "Riley, Scott" <sriley@cardinalcapital.com> Subject: Misc Items Still For Sale Back in July, I posted a message listing some items for sale. The items listed below are what's left and still for sale. Prices are very negotiable. All of these items (except for the Hoosiers) were removed from a '95 M3 with only 20k miles that I recently converted into a club racer. However, many of these parts could be installed on other E36 models. In consideration of other listers, please contact me privately regarding any interest in these items. All of these items are located in Dallas, Texas and available for shipping. I've attempted to give the correct p/n, but please correct me if it is wrong. Also, I have high quality digital photos available for all of the items. Prices below do not include shipping. Driver side airbag (4-spoke design): p/n 32 34 1 161 681. Cover is in mint condition. $400. Passenger side airbag: p/n unknown. $400. Air bag sensor: p/n 65.77-8352763. Make offer. Spring set: Extremely low mileage (20k). $100 Amber lens set: Complete factory set including side markers. Great condition. $100. Hoosiers: I have six (6) A3SO3 (autocross) 245/40-17 tires for sale that I used on my '99 M3 street car that I sold. Given that I have decided to pursue BMW club racing, I just don't have the time to effectively compete in autocross anymore. The remaining tread lives on these tires vary somewhat. Using my trusty Snap-On tread gauge, I have attempted to measure the tread depths with 3 measurements (Inside, Middle, Outside) taken for each tire. Keep in mind that these tires can be used on either side of the car to even out tire wear, as stated by Tire Rack in an excerpt from their website below: "The R3S03 and A3S03 tires feature an asymmetric tread design (which looks directional, but isn't) and can be used on either side of the car. They are molded with a tread depth of just 4/32" so they will not require shaving for competition, however they will benefit from heat cycling before competition to enhance wear and provide more consistent performance." All of these tires were heat-cycled and started at 4/32". Tire 1: 3.5, 3, 3. Price: $125. 2: 3.5, 3, 3. Price: $125. 3: 3, 2.5, 2. Price: $100. 4: 2.5, 3.5, 2. Price: $100. 5: 1.5, 2, 3. Price: $75. 6: 3.5, 3, 1.5. Price: $75. Please email me with any questions or comments. Thanks for the bandwidth, Scott Riley

#2. Change oil before or after the track? - from Jason Knight

Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2002 16:48:19 -0800 (PST) From: Jason Knight <knight2244@yahoo.com> Subject: Change oil before or after the track? I'm close to oil change time, but am attending a driving event at Willow Springs one day this weekend. I will need to top off the oil for the event (running Redline, so it's a relatively pricey top off). Do I change the oil before the event or after. If I do it before, it seems that I'll then be running on "fouled" or "used" oil for a few thousand miles. If I do it after, I'm pushing the car hard with less than perfect juice in there, but then running it on fresh stuff for the remainder (ignoring the pending driving event in December for discussion purposes). So, do I change it before or after? Any thoughts from the more scientific minded? Jason __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus – Powerful. Affordable. So, after the new RTABs are installed in the trailing arms, you position an insert on each side of the RTAB and slide it back into the carrier and reinsert the bolt. Think of it like putting a flat washer om each side of the RTAB, between it and the inside of the carrier housing. Very easy. #5. Oilpan gasket sealer? - from Chester Wong

Date: Fri, 22 Nov 2002 07:25:54 -0800 (PST) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: Oilpan gasket sealer? Will be dropping the oil pan shortly (well, whenever I get my car back). I'm wondering what type of sealant I should use. The TIS specifies Drei Bond 1209. The only reference to that compound in the ETK is Three Bond 1209 which comes in a 30ml tube. I imagine that it would take quite a few tubes to lay a 3mm wide, 2mm tall bead around the gasket and since each tube is like $7, that's gonna hurt. Just wondering if somene had a better alternative. Thanks, Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus – Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

Speed, Gforce, GPS location, etc? I know that Skip Barber and other schools use this type of information to help students understand the finer points of vehicle dynamics. I would be interested in getting something like that for my car. -Dave

Someone in a forum on unlimitedlaps.com had posted the data output for Laguna and Buttonwillow, and it looked impressive at a glance - interesting enough to look a little further. I believe that there is US pricing somewhere in there. I personally don't know anyone that has used this though, but would like to hear if anyone here has, since I think something like this might benefit my wife's racing. http://www.race-technology.com/WebPage/Products/Logger/DL90Home.html Jason --- David Foos <David.Foos@prairiecomm.com> wrote: > Date: Fri, 22 Nov 2002 16:15:48 -0600 > From: David Foos <David.Foos@prairiecomm.com> > Subject: Race Car Data Logging > > Does anyone know of a company that makes a race car > data logging product? > Speed, Gforce, GPS location, etc? What is the Rev. of the DME update ? This phenomena is likely the CSSR: Cold-Start-Spark-Retard. The DME retards timing to light-off the cats during cold-start. It happens to mine as well.
