Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2002 12:39:13 -0500 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: [Q] E36 Dinan Chip A friend is selling a Dinan chip from an E36 1995 325is. I believe that his car is equipped with EWS-II. Does this mean that the chip cannot be used in another E36 525is or E34 525i (M50 engine), or can it only be used in an M50 engine WITHOUT EWS-II. If I remember correctly, cars with EWS-II have the EWS code on the chip, and the code must match what's encoded in the EWS system. However, if it's used in a car without EWS, is this portion of the code simply ignored? Thanks, -rb _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963

Sue- I have to admit that I am a little offended. I have no intention of taking advantage of the list and in private emails I both offered to pay for list sponsorship and offered a couple of suggestions on how to allow very limited advertising to keep list content undiluted - this is a concern of mine as well. That signature has been attached to every email I send to the list from day 1 that I was on the list - it is my standard automatic email signature. I never re-evaluated it after the recent advertising thread because nothing has changed. After looking at it, especially in light of the recent ad thread, I do agree with you, but I had never thought about it previously. At this point, and after the discussion on the list, I was going to wait and see what the status quo was for ads before putting anything up, other than perhaps the occasional deal like the wheels that is too good to pass up. I don't want to add to list clutter or offend anyone on the list that strongly objects to ads. I took the specific product off the signature line. Let me know if that is OK or tell me what I need to use. Thanks and sorry for any problem. I see nothing wrong with vendors like James adding their signature lines to their mails. I don't consider it advertizing and personally like to see the signatures because it usually indicates their expertise and a possible source for parts, etc. which I appreciate. Many other vendors have signature lines as well and as long as all that they have is a short signature like James (or mine, but I'm not a vendor) no big deal. Just browsed through some old e-mails from the list saved for content and saw that other vendors have been doing the same thing for years. As long as they don't constantly advertize their products when answering a question, I don't see their vendor web site link in the signature line as a problem. #5. M3 Stuff for sale (JTD Tranny Mount and Eibach Sways) - from Dave Spragg

Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2002 14:05:29 -0500 From: "Dave Spragg" <dspragg@attbi.com> Subject: M3 Stuff for sale (JTD Tranny Mount and Eibach Sways) I would prefer not to ship the sways (it's just a pain :) ) but in any case the buyer pay for shipping. Your also going to need to trust me (or know someone who knows me or something like that) since I don't want to ship until I receive payment. $250 Eibach sway bar kit for the 96+ E36 M3 (might fit others but I don't know). This includes both front and rear adjustable sway bars (26mm and 24mm respectively) that will take a ton of lean out of the car and can be tuned to dial out a great deal of understeer as well. Will work on stock as well as lowered cars. Includes urethane bushings and rear links. $250 JT-Designs E36 M3 Racing Transmission Brace (for 1995 M3): http://store.yahoo.com/jtdesigns/higpertranbr.html Used a few times for a total of about a month. New unused bushing included so it's like new. I cleaned the dust off it and it isn't even scratched. This brace is the model for 96+ M3's, it won't fit 95 M3, 318, 325, or 328 (or my race car which is why I am selling it). $225 Thanks, Dave Spragg dave@spragg.com Natick, MA 99 M3 Garage Queen (for sale) 92 330is Sharked, #330 I Prepared ____________________________________________________________________ eMail Privacy Protected by QuarantineMail (http://www.quarantinemail.com) Licensed to: dspragg@attbi.com

Perhaps the cables? > My first sunroof rattle was the wind deflector rattling against the underside of the sunroof. I put a run of the velcro "loop" tape (the soft side) along the top of the wind deflector, and the problem went away for a little while. It was followd shortly by a more pronounced rattle over large bumps. That turned out to be the guide on the front left corner of the roof having worn and allowing vertical motion of the panel. Interestingly, the front right side has no play. I don't know how to fix it. When sitting still and car warmed up the shifter is almost impossible to put into gear, 1st 2nd any of them, once you are going the shifter feels fine with just a hint of being worse than before. Fluid level is good, I have been using Moblie syn. ATF for the last three years. The car 95 m3, with 70k miles on it. ? could this be the clutch, or any suggestions. The clutch disc rides on the tranny input shaft splines. There is a little grease on these splines that dries up and turns gooey. You need to clean and regrease these grooves. But if you're going to go through all that trouble, throw in a new clutch disc. Which the tranny is droppped, replace the gear selector rod joint and perhaps the shift carrier nylon cup.
