Date: Tue, 26 Nov 2002 19:11:24 -0500 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: ABS Light on! My ABS light lit up on my '95 M3 w/ 72K and has been on now for a week. I took my car to my mechanic and he read the codes for me. It reported 3 problems. Speed sensors in the front and a bad valve in the left rear. Anyone had any experience w/ having their ABS system repaired? I don't want to even think about buying a new pump. TIA Evan Evans President Smoky Mountain Chapter

#4. Stereo Update - from Scott McClung

Date: Tue, 26 Nov 2002 18:15:48 -0800 From: Scott McClung <scott.mcclung@ubicom.com> Subject: Stereo Update I mentioned awhile back that I had signed up for a new stereo installation for my '98 M3. Had it done a couple weeks ago. I'm very happy with it overall. What I ended up with: Alpine CD deck MB Quarts fronts JL Audio Stealthbox in rear stock locations Alpine 75Wx4 amp driving the fronts RF Power series 500W amp driving the subs The sound is very clean and tight. My previous system used the same RF amp to drive a large box with dual 10's in the trunk of my Q45, along with full ranges in the back plus ADS separates in the front. That system was the best I've ever had and still is - plenty of deep impact bass, but could sometimes be too boomy and obnoxious. The rear fill really gave the system a great sound stage and great midrange for vocals or acoustic instruments. The new system in the M3 by comparison is down on mid range, and lacks the rear fill but still sounds very good. The bass is much tighter and more musical for some types of music but lacks the hard hitting punch on some CD's. My goals for the system were to add minimal weight, not cut any holes anywhere and not lose any trunk space. I think the trade offs I made in audio fidelity were well worth it and the system fits the character and purpose of an M3 quite well. Also cost half what my old system did, although I did re-use one amp. It's very nice to have good tunes again - I've been missing that aspect. One downside is it took awhile to re-learn how to drive the car w/o hearing the engine!! I realized my shifting was mostly done by ear, and it's hard to hear the motor with stock exhaust over the tunes now!! I'm tempted to do an aftermarket exhaust, but the HP gain is so minimal and this is my daily driver and business car, so I'm refraining from that temptation.... For now.... Date: Tue, 26 Nov 2002 18:53:49 -0800 From: "Chris Teague" <cteague@cox.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] M3 autox question Scott, It was in AS last year, and BS this year, but with almost all the same cars. AS is a new class this year for C4 Corvettes, and a few other cars. Most all of last years AS cars are in BS. The Honda S2000 and possibly the Boxster are the 2 good BS cars now. The M3 is not nationally competitive in stock, but could do OK locally depending on the competition. Tunnell is very fast in his BSP 95 M3, and SM was won by a 95 M3 this year, and a 96 M3 last year. So there are places to run competively in SCCA.
