On a stock car, you can change weights with spring pads. 1% takes about 1/4" + of movement in a front corner or about 1/3" in a rear (2 turns on a Ground Control adjuster rear). If 97% of time the M3 is on the street, should I just go with OEM rotors? Are there some that are near that cost that are better? Where should I get them? I ordered some other parts mid-November and ups bounced them back and forth across the US three times. Ironically, they also arrived today. Just thought I'd share. Date: Wed, 04 Dec 2002 04:49:12 -0500 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: '95 M3 dash noise One possibility could be the small fan that draws air into the cabin air temp sensor (on the HVAC control panel). Put your ear close to the round "grille" on your HVAC controls and listen. It continutes to run for a few minutes after the car is shut off. If it's loud enough to be annoying, perhaps you need to remove the HVAC panel and lubricate the motor bearings. Or, maybe the fan sucked in something, and it's now rubbing on the fan. Since the fan draws a very low volume of air, whatever it draws in would be very small and light, like a hair, or some dust. FWIW, I've disassembled the HVAC panel on my E34 525iT twice (to replace the light bulb), and the sensor collects dust over time, so maybe you just need to clean it out. I've yet to check the sensor on my M3. Date: Wed, 4 Dec 2002 14:01:11 -0800 (PST) From: Jeff Kumler <jdkumler@yahoo.com> Subject: Vendor? Can anyone recommend a good source for H&R springs and Bilsteins? I would like to replace my stock setup this winter on my aggressively street driven and autocrossed '96 M3. Is this a DYI type job, or does it require special tools? What if I replace the rear shock mounts and sway bar bushings as well? TIA, Jeff
