Jeff, If you are dead set on going with Bilsteins, than be prepared to tear the fronts apart to cut the bump stops. TCKline.com sells a Koni/H&R kits. Koni SAs come at the same price/warranty as Bilstein, but are adjustable and properly engineered for our cars. Your call. > Is this a DYI type job, or does it require special > tools? It's definitely a DIY job requiring some special tools. You will at least need spring compressors to assemble springs/struts. Possibly a hack saw/pipe cutter and extra patience to gut the front struts if you go with the Konis. > What if I replace the rear shock mounts Sure, get GC RSMs. > and sway bar bushings as well? Most aftermarket sway bar kits will come with bushings anyway. I would wait until you are shopping for one. alex f '95 M3 with TCKline's TrackLine kit and Eibach sways

My ABS control unit went out about a year ago...was the most expensive repair I've done to my M3....1500 bucks or so :( From what I understand ABS control unit failure, unfortunately, is not that uncommon. When mine went out, though, the ABS was disabled totally..not just one channel. #7. Rear bumper adjustment... - from Juan Rico

Date: Wed, 4 Dec 2002 16:51:05 -0800 From: Juan Rico <juan_rico@captionsinc.com> Subject: Rear bumper adjustment... Hi, All of a sudden, my car's rear bumper has decided to drop down half and inch or so on the driver's side leaving a ghastly gap... Is there an easy way to adjust the bumper back to its original position? The bumper is definitely not loose, and is nice and tight-just in the wrong place... ;) Thanks, Juan.

Alex wrote, "You will at least need spring compressors to assemble springs/struts." That's half the necessary tools in my view. I'd never want to tighten, untighten a loaded spring compressor by hand/with a rachet. You NEED either a air driven or electric impact gun. Otherwise it's a major PITA. Alex also wrote, "Possibly a hack saw/pipe cutter and extra patience to gut the front struts if you go with the Konis." This would also be a PITA to do with a hack saw. Use a very thin, ceramic rotary cutting disc (attached to a rotary cutting tool). It'll take the top of the strut right off. You also need an impact gun to tighten the top shock nut once the shock/strut/spring assembly is put back together. Without it the shock rod will just spin on you when you try to tighten the nut. Moral of the story. Get an air compressor. I have all of the pieces necessary to turn the car into the ultimate club racer, or with some tweaking a very competitive pro car. The car can be built within 45-60 days, just in time for the 2003 season. No corners were cut on the fabrication and that same high-quality approach will be taken on building the remainder of the car. Did it drop in the front or back (relatively speaking)? There are adjustment screws, but I doubt you'll get 1/2" Something else must be wrong.
