In Prepared, you can tie the cage into the rear shock towers and you can tie the shock towers together, so long as what you end up with is still a 6-point cage. You can also extend foot protection bars to the cockpit side of the firewall in any class. This doesn't count as an attachment point for determining whether it is a 6-point cage. The only possible gray area on the cage is the going to the front struts towers. I thought the only change from the stock classes was the ability to go to the rear shock towers. IIRC, the previous language specified something about not going through the front firewall, but it appears to have softened some. Just to be safe I would get a ruling from the Tech Steward, which should be fairly easy with the pictures on the website. Nicely done cage, btw. John

You can try Plasitcoat New Ford Grey Engine Enamel #216 (from Pep Boys)...but it's not a perfect match. Still, it's better than looking at the pealing/cracking OEM paint. However, the next time my cam cover comes off, and I can afford my car down for a couple of days, I plan on getting it Powder Coated. Roger '95 M3 with Ford-colored cam cover. I run the RD bars and have been very happy with them. I understand buying UUC bars (they are a great product) but what prompted the change? Curious, Rob

#6. Steering wheel squeak - from eevans@planetc.com
Top
Date: Fri, 06 Dec 2002 19:49:50 -0500 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: Steering wheel squeak David, I must have the exact same problem on my '95 M3 (72k miles). I first thought it was coming from the dash instrument panel, then people began to tell me it might be the HVAC fan. So tonight on the way home, as this squeak was driving me crazy I began to play w/ the steering wheel. I noticed that the noise went away upon turning in either direction. Then I started pulling on the wheel as the noise was happening and it would go away w/ pulling pressure. So it's got to be the friggin' steering wheel needing lube. Let me know when you find out where to put the grease. TIA Evan President Smoky Mountain BMW CCA Date: Fri, 6 Dec 2002 09:07:36 -0800 From: "David Flanary" < > Subject: How to fix steering wheel squeak My steering wheel has started to make a squeaking noise (50k miles). I am assuming this is at the "slip ring" behind the wheel. A review of the archives seems to point to this part needing either replacement or a little lubrication. I have removed the steering column trim and can see a black circle directly behind the steering wheel, which I assume is the slip ring. The question is where exactly do I need to apply lubrication?

He (and his car) have UUC sponsorship for OTC (Open Track Challenge). I'm pretty sure that's what prompted the change. Cheers, Jim Bassett

It is not specific to the M3, so you will need to convert to the standard 3 series sway bar mounting. For him, the shocks did not have enough travel in back, and it lifted the rear wheel off the ground, and the front was very low at full height. Then he changed the springs, since he thought they were too soft. I would try ground-control, or possibly H&R. My $0.02.
