I broke 1 the second weekend (large arms on the side broke under angled load, new $45k ITS car, not happy). The metal may not be up to par but more importantly, it is cast instead of CNCed. Stock fluid doesn't work well in the cold either - slow return. If you want a cheap, light jack, they are hard to beat though... So far it's been very satisfactory indeed, and the many other people who have borrowed at at the track seem to agree! > So far this jack has gotten good reviews. I'm just trying to figure out why > it's not $600 - $700. Because: 1) It's made in China 2) Unlike the traditional Bruennhoelzl racing jacks, its principal parts (lift arm, side plates) are lower cost castings, rather than machined and assembled alloy plate. Nicely done though. > I guess time will tell how it holds up. Exactly. So far, so good, and if/when it does fail the low cost means it won't spoil my life. Neil 96 M3

I have heard reports of a minor failure from a fellow list member, part of the jack pad area cracking and breaking off. Date: Tue, 10 Dec 2002 14:51:38 -0500 From: "Wesley A. Nicolas" <wes@nicolas.org> Subject: OBD-I Cam Kit Questions??? Hey all - I'm trying to justify putting in the Schrick cam kit (+ injectors and chip) in my 1995 M3 which already has the JC Euro HFM CAI when I replace the head gasket. I plan on replacing the valve retainers with 96+ retainers and possibly new factory valve springs. After reading the archives, this kit was rated favorably.is there anything else I should consider?? Thanks! Wes '95 M3 - 125,000 miles

Zach, If you pads rattle, chances are you are missing the outboard pad retaining clip. The goop only muffles the squeaking noises during brake application. And only until it burns off. --- Jim Musial <jmusial.ee96@gtalumni.org> wrote: > > Getting a rattle from what seems to be the driver's > > rear on my '97 M3. More often than not you can not properly inspect them without removing them. At which point you might as well replace them with Ground Control RSMs. If you have more than 30K miles on yours, order GC RSMs and swap yours out. Is your car lowered? Tracked? Could also be rear sway bar links or the driver side rear sway bar link hitting muffler (if lowered). Don't forget to check for the junk in the trunk. The CD changer bracket can work itself loose. Interesting trophies can hide and rattle in the spare tire well. alex f
