Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 08:29:24 -0800 (PST) From: John B <john0990@yahoo.com> Subject: GC or JTD RSMs I've had both. The JTD bushings were simply too soft, and would wear out very quickly, causing clunking and the rear shock towers took a beating. Yes, I had them installed properly. I tried both the "street" and "race" bushings to no avail. This was with Bilstein sport shocks about 2 years ago. The GC are very nice pieces, and like Lowell said much easier to remove and replace the rear shocks with them in. Had them 2 years, with both Bilsteins and SA Konis. My only complaint is the urethane bushings squeak quite a bit. A friend with the GC also has the same complaint about the squeaking bushings. I was considering going to the e46m3 rsms because of the squeaking . . . John '95 M3 __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. If so, it is my guess that when you purchased the rsm's you were not informed or did not get the detailed instructions that outlined which bushings to use with your particular suspension. We do not offer the softer bushings any longer, due to this situation. I'd be happy to ship you a set of bushings at no cost, it will make your reselling of them easy, or you can put them back on your car in 20K miles and simply forget about them. Sorry to hear your displeasure, I wish you would have contacted me imediately, I could have saved you time and energy. #3. ABS Pump - from eevans@planetc.com

Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 12:57:35 -0500 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: ABS Pump Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 00:07:46 -0700 From: Tom Reynolds <kjtar@earthlink.net> Subject: re: Need ABS Hydraulic Pump Evan, Just a shot in the dark, but is it possible that you might be getting a false reading because all the gunk has gummed up a sensor that might in turn be sending out a "false" code? Tom Reynolds Hereford, AZ Tom, Once I flushed the system and got all of the gunk out. We had the car on a lift engaged in 3rd gear and re tested the braking. If the sensor was the culprit then it still is. I'm afraid that w/o taking the pump off and just going through it there's no way to be sure. That's what is so frustrating about this problem. It still COULD be a sensor, or the ABS control unit, so even w/ a new pump I might still not have it fixed, but after seeing the crud that came out I'm reasonably sure that it damaged one of the valves in the pump. It's catch 22, I can't afford to have the car down while we investigate the pump so I have to have another working pump at hand to replace it. So any way I look it says "pump". Thanks for the reply, Evan

#5. [E36M3] Part # Needed - from sk99m3@attbi.com

Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 18:20:55 +0000 From: sk99m3@attbi.com Subject: [E36M3] Part # Needed I need the part number for the plastic retainers which hold the 'pork chops' under the front bumper. I purchased some after I gave the dealer a verbal description, but they are too large. Also, are the retainers for the black front spoiler lip the same as those used for the pork chops? Thanks, -spencer '99 M3

#6. Interest in Group purchase for "clip-in" style Schroth harnesses? - from DocWyte

Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 10:21:30 -0800 (PST) From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> Subject: Interest in Group purchase for "clip-in" style Schroth harnesses? OK gang, I read Neil's incredibly comprehensive document on installing the bolt in style Schroth harnesses (thanks Neil!) and decided to heck with that. :-) Through my contacts in the VW world, I can get things...like Schroth harnesses for instance. They're a special order for my distributor and will take 7-10 days for him to get them, then shipping time to us, but I can get them. They're available in black and red only at this time. So if you're interested in picking up a set or a pair, drop me an email. Pricing will be less than the current $202.50 that HMS charges, by a little over 10% I think, depends on how many I order. I just figured if I had to special order something I might as well get a bunch of them! -josh ===== Josh Wyte Momentum Motorsports 508-833-3024 After 5 pm EST __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? It's part of the speaker cover. I can't recall if any of the underdash pieces need to be removed, but I would guess the knee bolster will need to be. Then remove the hood release lever. If there are any screws or fasteners, they should be obvious, then it comes off. (My vagueness comes from only having removed it in the race car, which has very few interior bits remaining :-)) Hope that helps, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44

#10. Odometer too dim - from Joe Tan

Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 12:07:03 -0800 (PST) From: Joe Tan <mailjtan@yahoo.com> Subject: Odometer too dim A friend of mine has a '95 M3 and his Odometer LED has gotten very dimm compared to the rest of the instrumentation and can hardly read it any more. I know that the Instrument dials are lighted by bulbs behind the cluster and can be changes if the go out. Does anyone knows if it's the same case with the odometer? Any fit to this other than replacing the entire instrument cluster? Any help is appreciated. TIA, Joe T. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful.
