I assume I'd need a 6-10" extension, but what size spark plug socket would I need? The metal tube looking thing, that's the spark plug tool. Perfect length to get down there, spark plug holder on one side, 2 holes to stick a metal rod thru the tube on the other side so you can turn it. Amazingly enough, the metal rod back there for changing wheels fits thru there perfectly. As if somebody had thought it through.. Every plug change I've done I've used the tool that came with the car. Andrej '97 M3

I seem to be one of the lucky owners who didn't get that tool in the kit. It's just been an empty spot from the day I took delivery. Maybe I'll try calling my dealer today and complaining that I don't have this part of my tool kit. #5. E36 radiator:good replacement or same as orig.? - from Tom Reynolds
Top
Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2002 11:19:10 -0700 From: Tom Reynolds <kjtar@earthlink.net> Subject: E36 radiator:good replacement or same as orig.? Apparently, two of the Achilles heels of the E36 M3 are the water pump and the radiator. The water pump was replaced by a metal one, and then again with an improved plastic one, right? Metal one better? And, to the point of the email, what about the radiator? Any good/better replacement for the orig. radiator that had the platic neck (as well as other plastic areas) with a better design that fits the E36? Thanks very much Tom (looking for one: a M3 E36. that is) Reynolds Hereford, AZ

Custom aluminum radiators are available, but they're expensive. The metal impeller water pump is better in the area of strength; however, it's been said that the new water pumps are plastic again...something about the metal reacting with the coolant. Someone on this list said that he was working with Fluidyne (I think) for custom alum radiators that might be a little more affordable. I'm going to try to call my dealer and see if they have the took kit spark plug tool in stock, and maybe even just give it to me since it never came with my car (haha! we'll see about that). Does anyone have the P/N for that, so I don't have to stay on the phone with them forever as they try to figure it out? ;) Thanks, Jonathan _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

The BMW water pump's impeller that went into my car over this past summer was made of a much stronger-feeling black plastic, rather than the weak white plastic that the original pump (and its leftover pieces) were made of. - Chris
