I had slight vibrations on my car as well after I had new tires put on. I went back to the tire place and had all 4 tires balanced twice, with no change in the vibration. (they swore the tires were "Perfectly" balanced) I then brought the car to a local place with the Hunter machine. (I think its the GSP9700?) After they "road force balanced" the tires, the vibration was gone. Not sure if you are having the same issue, but if everything else fails, this may be something to look into.. When did you change the tires? Good Luck! I've had the front tires re-balanced - no change. I'm planning on checking the steering wheel-to-column connection for tightness, as well as the column linkage. Any other ideas? P/S pump going bad? Wheel bearings? (If you're not familiar, car has 123K+ miles, recently installed Koni SA struts up front (Oct), UUC swaybars, 8.5" wheels 245/40 SO-3s all around, recently replaced motor mounts (Oct), new-ish steering rack (April 2001) - that's all I can think of that would be related.) Thanks, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 w/non-stock hand massage :-) 1993 325is #44 - vibrations galore :-)

It's pretty clear what they would want. The point isn't that he prevented a handicapped person from parking there (most likely), it's that he was trying to get some stuff into the car without it getting soaked by the rain and nobody else needed the spot. I can only assume that there wasn't an angry mob of handicapped people trying to get him arrested, it was just the local law with an attitude. -jeff DocWyte wrote: >So what if he was in the car? Admit your guilt, grovel, tell your story, and you may get a reduced fine. We're off topic, or on this topic, so--a story. It's Saturday. I'm running errands. Two of my sons, 5 and 7, are acting up in my hellrot 1995 BMW M3 3.0 liter coupe with light performance modifications. I drive into an empty bank parking lot, see six (6) empty handicapped spaces, and pull into one near the ATM so I can keep an eye the kids. I'm getting my $80. A guy drives up in a sixties Buick convertible, top down, parks in a regular space, and gets out, fuming. From his elbows down, this man wears prosthetic arms and hands, gleaming in stainless steel. He walks slowly around my car, peering through the tint. Is he gonna smash a window? I prepare to tackle him if he threatens the kids. He turns, waving--he's gonna slash me! No, he doesn't, but he reams me out for the next minute (details are WAY off topic). I manage, "What are the chances of six disabled people showing up in the next 30 seconds?" He leaps in the Buick, slams the door, and lights 'em up as he shoots out of the lot. My pulse rate: 120 beats/minute. Since then, I've avoided all handicapped spaces, wheelchair ramps, tall toilets with handrails, and faucets with flapper handles.

If yes, you pay. If no, you fight. I don't think you were. Regarding moving if someone with a handicap tag shows up, they could just use the other three handicap spaces that are open. I'm in the property management business, and I can tell you that I've never in my 20+ year career seen all the HC spaces full at any property that's built to code (with the exception of senior housing, where 3 to 5 times code are legitimately needed). Something tells me we're getting WAY OT with this thread, so I'm done before the whip comes out. Dave Hogg

It looked great. Better than if you were to put the traditional colours on your black car. Sorry no pictures. #7. E36 M3/4-door vs E36 M3/2-door... - from Patrick Buthmann

Gang, Since I'm looking at selling my race car, it's going to be replaced = by an E36 M3 as a combo daily driver / heavy track use car (20 to 30 = days). However, I'm also at that age where a 4 door car is just so much = more useful than a 2-door (at least I've kept all my hair so far....). Any known drawbacks to running the M3/4 as a track car? According = to all the info I've dug up, curb weights are identical for the coupe = and sedan (I thought the extra door frames / windows would add some, but = apparently not). Anybody out there have a major preference for the 2 door over the 4 = door? Generally I prefer the appearance of 2 door cars, but the M3 = sedan is a good looking car, and having 4 doors may *temper* the = downgrade from a prepared race car to a combo daily driver / track car = somewhat. Any problems with front seating on the 4 door vs the 2 door? I'm = 6'3" and 225 lbs, so shoulder width and leg room are issues for me. = Also, any issues with dropping street friendly buckets (such as the = Recaro SRD and other suggestions from my other post; thanks again) into = the sedan? Any and all insights from the members of this list would be greatly = appreciated. Thanks, and hey, have a Merry Christmas! Pat

Recaro SRD's are very comfortable and grippy for the track and they recline and fold forward. Come in a variety of colors and even can be ordered with a crotch strap slot of you want to put in a rollbar and harnesses. TC Kline has them for reasonable prices. #10. Oil pump nut - from Chester Wong
Top
Date: Sun, 22 Dec 2002 09:49:31 -0800 (PST) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: Oil pump nut We dropped my oil pan yesterday to tighten the oil pump nut with some loctite. It was relatively straightforward where the only thing you had to disconnect was: - Lollipops to the control arms - Front sway bar (at least take the brackets holding the bar to the chassis - Engine mounts (from the bottom) - Front subframe Support the engine by jacking on the bottom of the tranny (if you don't have an engine crane which we didn't) and the whole front subframe lowers to get at the pan. Unfortunately I forgot that the threads are left hand threaded and so when I tried to loosen the nut, I actually tightened it so I don't know if it was loose or not. Anyway, the car is buttoned back together and all is well except that I hear a slight tok, tok, tok sound at idle and a strange sound at around 2500 - 3000 rpms happens in 1st and 2nd (it's probably easier to hear in these gears since there's less road noise). I did pull the sprocket off the oil pump, but these things aren't timed, right? It's just a chain that drives a pump. Any ideas? TIA, Chester =====
