No sunroof, no cruise, light flywheel, light wheels, replaced both front seats, DynaBatt, custom light exhaust from manifold back, no spare or trunk tools. When I bought the car the previous owner had it weighed, and w/ no spare and 1/2 tank of gas, 3050lb. I have the receipt to verify it.... I've killed two shocks this way. Any slippage of the bench vise and you end up with sharp edges that tear up the seals right quick in the shock. I've found that impact tools are safer, just grab the shaft with a gloved hand to make sure it doesn't turn too much. -kit

The diff fluid in my car is only 2k miles old so this may not be my problem. Do you recommend removing the sensor and cleaning it? FWIW the speedometer worked all the way from Philly to Charlotte (9.5 hours in heavy traffic) then died 15 miles from home. It was working fine this morning on the way into the office. I'd like to thank everybody for all of their feedback on this. I'm going to call the dealership and speak with them just to feel them out. I'm not home often and since I'm home all week I may run it in if they sound like they are willing to help out. Otherwise I may replace the sensor with the one from my race car (which happens to have a diff from a 3.2 M3 in it) and see if that changes anything. Shane K. Date: Mon, 30 Dec 2002 12:31:09 -0500 From: KLchmn@aol.com Subject: Pilot Bearing removal Gruppe, The pilot bearing removal tool that I've always counted on failed this weekend. It is the Bavarian Auto tool (or was it BMP...). One of the arms bent while trying to remove the pilot bearing. So, what other alternatives are there? I looked at the Bav Auto site (and BMP site) to see about getting replacement arms but the tool wasn't listed! What's everyone else using? Kirk

Date: Mon, 30 Dec 2002 11:54:04 -0600 From: "Jamie Howton" <jhowton@fotofab.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Pilot Bearing removal I recently used my "el-cheapo" pilot bearing puller that I got from JC Whitney: http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=5420&BQ=jcw2http://www.jcwh itney.com. I had to grind the jaws a little in order to get it into the ID of the pilot bearing, but it worked very well. Of course, a lot of people just pack the cavity behind the pilot bearing with grease and insert a dowel or other close fitting object into the hole before giving it a whack with a BFH. Enough whacking and enough grease and that sucker should pop right out. Jamie Howton 2002 330i 5 Spd Steel Blue Metallic SP 1995 M3 5 Spd Arctic Silver 1979 Porsche 928 5 Speed Opalmetallic
