Where did you get the intake ducts to replace the foglights? Also, does anybody have any broken foglights laying around? Specifically, I'm looking for the connector plug assembly from the back of the light, rather than the complete light. If the car's running fine, I'd just reset the CE light and forget about it. Probably just a momentary hiccup. If you get the same code again then I'd look into what might have caused it. #3. Mounting rear spoiler w/o brake light - from K Quistorff
Top
Date: Mon, 30 Dec 2002 21:47:50 -0500 From: "K Quistorff" <kqkq@nc.rr.com> Subject: Mounting rear spoiler w/o brake light I recently purchased a factory BMW E36 rear spoiler w/o brake light and am having trouble figuring out how it will mount to my trunk lid. BTW, my M3 has not had a spoiler prior to this, and this spoiler definitely appears to be OEM BMW, it has the german text mold stamp on the underside of the driver's side corner. Unlike the usual OEM M3 spoiler (w/brake light) which mounts with two screws on each side along the edge of the trunk lid, this spoiler has three mounting holes per side, all of which are further inboard of the edge of the trunk lid. Mounting holes in these locations will not be along the strip/edge of the trunk lid, but instead into the hollow area with the formed sheet metal below. Having never seen the underside of a trunk with this type spoiler mounted, I'm curious if holes need to be drilled all the way through the inner/second layer of the trunk lid just to get the mounting screws to pass through - or is there some "trick" to the way it mounts? If access thru-holes are necessary, is there some type of plug to cover these extra/unsightly holes up on the inside of the trunk lid? I already tried taking it to my local BMW dealership to try to find out the deal, but their body shop is not BMW-specific (wasn't sure I'd get the right answer), and the wait to talk to someone was longer than I had. Any info is greatly appreciated. Regards, Keith Q. 1996 M3 Cary, NC

I don't mind used as long as it's in perfect condition. Maybe some of those who upgraded their fronts to 17x8.5" have some for sale? Thanks, Mike

The shifting is much smoother than stock. Even my wife commented how much easier it was to drive. Course my stock clutch had 45K miles, and a lot of hard autox use. No booming or rattling while driving. There is a slight increase in cabin noise though, but I think any aluminum flyweel will do that. It doesn't sound bad, not even as loud as a cold air intake, but it is there. Likely the dual mass flywheel helps damp this out. To me, it just sounds a little "sportier". And while 2nd Creek ain't exactly Laguna Seca (OK, about the only attributes they share is that they're both paved, and called race tracks), you can't argue with the price: free, every day between Christmas and New Years. I had a lot of time to get familiar with my new harnesses. Ya know, sharing a track with motorbikes can make for interesting moments. Like when you've got the car rotating, you're about to roll into the throttle, and 20 feet in front of you there's an Yamaha R1 pirouetting on the pavement, while its recently dismounted rider skitters along on his derriere. - Alain (oddly puckered driver's seat)

#9. Airbag Dash Light - from shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com

Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 08:50:43 -0500 From: shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com Subject: Airbag Dash Light I know this issue has been raised before but I could not find the info I wanted in the archives or an internet search.... My airbag light came on about four days ago. I have not done any work on the seats, as I understand that removing the seat with the keys in the ignition will cause the fault. The only thing that comes to mind is a faulty seat belt latch. My brother, who first got the light when he borrowed the car, said he had two of these replaced in his wife's old 1996 318i. Since my car is a '96 as well, I figure it could be the same thing. My question is, how do I test the seatbelt latch (without replacing it with another part) to confirm this is the problem? Are there any other common ways this light is tripped? And finally, do I have to go to the dealer to get this turned off, will it go out when the good part is installed, or can my independent do it? Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 06:24:20 -0800 From: "Jay W. Hudson" <jwhud@cdsnet.net> Subject: [E36M3] Need alignment help Happy New Year folks- Does anyone out there know what the SAI and/or Included Angle numbers should be on a '97 M3? The bodyshop/dealer is still trying to get my frontend right after an accident I had some months ago. They've already replaced both struts, both LCAs and a tie rod. BMW cannot or will not provide the above specs. Thanks for your help. I appreciate any info or suggestions. Jay
