Case closed. Let's not generalize from a single data point. Lowell's case may well be closed, but others have experienced different outcomes from removing the fan. My decision, as stated earlier, is to allow some performance and safety margin. Neil 96 M3

I worked at GM at the time of development of the C5, and the word was that the C5 would make the C4 look like a toy. It did. The inside scoop on the C6 is that it will be a much better car overall than the C5. Hard to believe, but the base model C6 is supposed to give the Z06 a run for it's money. Scary to think how fast the new Z06 will be... #6. Brake rotors - from Paul Elliott

Date: Mon, 3 Feb 2003 15:11:32 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Brake rotors >>Same here -- Brembos, no ducting, never warped. Replaced my first set only because the cracks were getting too close to the edge ...<< I think an awful lot of people make the mistake of assuming that a vibrating steering wheel upon braking at speed always means brake rotor warpage. The truth of the matter is that more often than not, this is due to brake pad material transfer instead. To verify, just try making several hard stops from like 40 or 50 mph to near zero. Then, let them cool off and bring them up to speed and apply the brakes. I'll bet that in most cases, the brake judder is either eliminated, or greatly reduced. #7. Adding Redline water wetter to the cooling system - from Steven Tom

Date: Mon, 03 Feb 2003 12:25:48 -0800 From: Steven Tom <stom@qualcomm.com> Subject: Adding Redline water wetter to the cooling system This is going to sound like a rudimentary question. I plan on adding Water Wetter to my car. Is adding the WW through the radiator cap the proper way to do it? Or is the radiator cap only to the resevoir? Does this make sense? I just want to make sure that if I'm adding the WW, it goes directly to the cooling system and not to the resevoir where it will only be used if the system sucks it in. The other question; if my radiator shows almost full what is the easiest way to drain enough to get the WW in without overfilling? Thanks for the help. steve

My local dealer, never the least expensive place for parts, charges $21.60/gal for BMW Antifreeze. Is this a record? No prizes for exceeding this price, just the satisfaction of knowing that like me you've done your part to help the owner make his boat payments. Too bad you can't simply pour German beer into the radiator, it'd be cheaper and you'd know what to do with the leftovers. Neil 96 M3
