For the rear, it's a no brainer IMO, beats taking the shock off. There are nine bump settings for the rears, believe me, past six and you might as well install a metal rod instead of a shock ;-)) Can't remember the difference I paid. The bass really hits hard now and it sounds wonderful. The time correction is really, really nice<< Hey Chester, nice writeup. I presume youll be posting pics at some point? Question.... how do you find the reception of your head unit? Do you know what dbf sensitivity rating your head unit has? Because the aftermarket units dont have connections for the diversity antenna the bmw has in the C pillar, the only aftermarket unit Ive found which provides reception on a par with the stock units is a particular blaupunkt unit. Even though my Kenwood Excelon unit has a lowish dbf rating of 9.3, the Blau had a rating of 7.8, although I dont know if this increased sensitivity rating is why it had better reception or not. I coudn't figure out why my car would idle rough all the sudden. after troubleshooting for a while I found out that one of my coils were cracked and that cylinder wasn't firing at all. After a new set of coils the car was still running rough. Aparently when the coil fried, it took the DME with it. After some research on the web. this aparently is a common problem with the OBD1 M/S50 motor. I had to spend $400 to get a used DME and that fixed the problem. So consider yourself lucky that the dealer covered the repair bill for you. Uses the same rear diff ratio (different unit though) so no difference there. The Euro motor *feels* less torquey however, as it's flat flat flat the whole way, while the US motor has that fun boost at 3500-4500 RPM. I can dig up some dynno charts if need be. The 0-60 times are so close because both cars are similarly traction limited. andy r.

Date: Fri, 7 Feb 2003 15:38:32 -0800 From: "Murray Roblin" <murray@farleyroblin.com> Subject: FS: M3 LTW Springs I've got a set (2 front, 2 rear) of OEM springs from a 95 M3 lightweight. According to the LTW owner, they have about 10k miles on them and were removed to install coilovers. The springs are in good shape, with a bit of wear on the initial and terminal coils (no different than any other spring which I've seen.) I'm not sure of the spring rates, but I understand that they are slightly stiffer than stock and provide about 1/2" of drop. More information is at: http://www.bmw-m.net/techdata/spring.htm. Springs are marked with 4 blue dots (F) and 3 white dots (R). I haven't gotten around to installing them and other projects are calling for my cash. $250 + shipping. l on my car Contact me directly through email. I'm in the SF Bay Area, mid-Peninsula, if locals are interested. Thanks, Murray murray@farleyroblin.com

I have two VIP tickets for Sunday's AT&T National Pro-Am Golf Tournement in Monterey. As luck would have it I can not go (I'll be racing instead), so they're now up for sale. Package includes two sponsor-level tickets to the event, access to the VIP hospitality area (champagne, breakfast and a buffet luncheon, hob-nobbing with celebrities, etc.), and a preferred parking pass. Supposedly these tickets are selling for $2000 (yes, that's 3 zeros), but I got them as a gimme. I'll let them go to the highest bidder by 3pm tomorrow. If they're worth $100 to you, say $100. If someone else says $2k, then they'll end up being theirs. ;-) You'll then have to swing by my place to pick them up. C'mon and help my race tire budget. E-mail with questions. -peterg
