Depending upon where you live, shipping charges will be approximately $200-$350 and the engine will be delivered strapped down on a pallet. I made some adjustments to the temp and fan speed, bit no change. Besides checking the fuses, are there any other problem areas on the Fan system? Thanks in advance. However, don't want to use my car. Am I restricted to the private driver's schools that supply a car for you ($$$)?? I have a 95 M3 w/ 135xxx miles on the motor (running well). Don't really want to "risk" blowing the motor since $$ is tight. Please advise of my options/which schools are the best. I am in So. California (Orange, CA) Thanks Jeff

Some friends and I were planning on attending a Summit Point, "Friday at the Track" event, but I have heard some neagative things about it (lack of organization, safety, etc...) that have made me shy away from putting myself and my car in that environment. Can anyone recommend some good DE events in the Baltimore-Washington region that are open to all kinds of cars , are safe, and instructive? I heard the Audi club runs a good one at VIR that I am considering. I figured you guys (and gals) would know of a handful more. Thanks again all. That procedure only works for OBD-I cars, like your '95. Any OBD-II car, like Mark's '98, needs a code reader of some sort. Jim Bassett

Why? >Am I restricted to the private driver's >schools that supply a car for you ($$$)?? If you don't want to use your own car, it's that or finding a place that rents track-cars for that purpose. There a some local (NorCal) places that rent out Spec Miata's for various driving events. >I have a 95 M3 w/ 135xxx miles on >the motor (running well). Well, honestly, I doubt you'll be at any more risk of blowing up the motor at your first track event than you would driving in your daily life. Granted, speeds will higher than you typically see on a SoCal freeway <bg>, but that won't hurt the car. >Please advise of my options/which schools are the best. I am in So. >California (Orange, CA) Is the car mechanically sound, no major problems? Then I would HIGHLY recommend you look into a CCA school. You will learn a lot, and you will be doing it the car you drive daily and are familiar with. And you will go only as fast as you want to. My 2 cents, Jim Bassett

Actually, the 5-WOT method does not even work on my 8/94 production '95 M3. Neither now with JimC, nor before it with the OE chip. I am intimately familiar with the procedure as it used to work for my E30s. I do hear that it works for some '95 M3 owners. alex f

So getting creative... ....go to Hertz & rent a rear-wheel drive car like a Mustang. Bonus is that you use up their rubber at driving school. Back when Hertz had RWD Ford Thunderbirds, that was the ticket for driving schools where the participant flew in (like an Ocktoberfest). For the "D" run group, you don't need much HP, but good brakes can be a bonus.
