Regards, Luis Luis, Good for you! You can do all of the Inspection/Service procedures yourself if you don't mind spending some time. The one exception is replacing the fuel filter on early production 1995 M3's. I helped a friend replace his fuel filter once. Never again. But don't worry. Your M3 is way after the switch. Your fuel filter will be about 10 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. It is located on the underside of the car below the driver's door. Very easy to change. Part # for the microfilter: 64 11 9 069 895 I'm embarrassed to admit that I purchased 2 microfilters over 5 years ago for my 9/95 M3. I have yet to replace the original filter. I have to run my blower on 3 or 4 to get much air flow. I'm afraid to see what it looks like. Brett Anderson has a trick procedure for replacing it. I can't personally vouch for its ease of use since I've never changed my own filter. :-) http://www.koalamotorsport.com/ Click on complimentary repairs, then click on 3 series E36, then click on microfilter. Spark plug? You've got a '95 3.0L M3. I'd use the stock Bosch plug - F7LDCR. It's two prongs - about $6. The '96+ 3.2L M3 uses a four prong Bosch FGR8KQC plug. It is $13 each. Forget OBD-II vs. OBD-I, I'm glad I've got a '95 M3 simply because it doesn't cost me $80 for spark plugs! I don't have any idea on the loose steering column. Sorry. But if you can find any loose bolts, I'd definitely tighten them up. Good luck! Lowell Seaton '95 M3 BMW CCA #131505 -------------------------------------------------

Loctite / Permatex's "The Right Stuff" is an excellent sealant that they claim is used by Detroit on the factory line -- you may want to go with that if you can't find Drei Bond, etc. -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. As confirmed by one dealer tech, one friendly independent and verified by my own experience of changing the gaskets last year. alex f

#4. Door Handle Switch - from DiVincenti, A.J.

Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2003 12:34:26 -0600 From: "DiVincenti, A.J." <ADiVin@lsuhsc.edu> Subject: Door Handle Switch My car is possessed. Most of the time when I shut my door on the drivers side, the side window keeps going up and down up and down about an inch or so. Sometimes when driving it does this. When this happens, the dome light stays on also. I've narrowed it down to the door handle. There must be a switch in the door handle that activates the dome light and the window movement. Something's gone freaky bad. Does anyone know more about the mechanism that is freaking out and how to get to it? How about a good exorcist? AJ 95 M3

They sell for a $45-50 each, but come with a new spark plug extensions (aka elephant trunks). The other brand, Zundusphule (sp?) is to be avoided at all costs. > Much better than having to replace all of them as well > as the dme like I had to. All six coils should be replaced in one go. If one of them is going bad, the others are not too far behind. alex f

In addition, you should replace them with the same brand (Bosch, Bremi, etc). This was mentioned to me when I replaced the coils in the race car. FWIW, Jim Bassett

It's located in the latch assembly on the door pillar. If you stick your little finger in the hole where the latch connects, there's a small micro switch covered with rubber. That switch tells the dome light to go on/off and also tells the window to go up/down about a half inch to facilitate opening/closing the door. Jay >My car is possessed. Two torx screws hold it in, but it's virtually impossible to get everything hooked up. You have to remove the rear side panel (is this a 2door or 4door) and access the stuff from the side as well. Michael, I've lived in places all over the Sacramento area for 30 years and would be happy to talk to you about it. Sacto weather is pretty mild. We do get a dozen or so 100+ days in the summer but it's a dry heat. ;-) As far as stuff to do, it depends on what you're looking for. We have a decent live music scene, a lot of great restaurants, cultural events - much like any major city. It's not SF, but it's not a cowtown either. Traffic can get bad during rush hour but in that sense we're much better than SF. Also we're right next door to some of the world's best wine country. Cost of living is very low. Send me a private mail if you'd like info. - Bill
