The first one lacks the mounting plate with offset screw, but the second one appears to have two electrical contacts. Of course the ETK drawings are often not good representations of reality. I may have to have the dealer figure it out - and take back the part if they guess wrong. Neil 96 M3

My guess is that the -430 for vehicles with alarm system refers to a factory installed alarm. Our alarms were dealer installed, so it should be the base -792 trunk switch. Thanks to all who responded, including Mike S. who suggested I check the trunk wiring which can fray. I checked and the problem is definitely the switch, but that was a good suggestion anyway. Physically it's I trust you have already inspected and perhaps replaced the body to trunk lid wiring? Its insulation cracks when flexed at low temperatures. To make matters worse, the '94 coupe I repaired a few months back had a couple, stiff through-hole tubes that concentrated the flex. That particular car now has no stress concentrators and some wiring designed for flexed service at -40 deg. For my next project, I will convince the trunk light to turn itself off. :) -John '96 318is

Very disconcerting indeed. It is a 98 M3 with 57K miles, totally stock. All opinions appreciated. Thanks, Roan

I don't think the sway bar reinforcements are necessary w/stock bars. I ran the M3 on track for 3 years with UUC swaybars w/o reinforcements (suspension otherwise stock) with no problems. Having said that, as a precaution I've since reinforced both the sway bar mounts & the front subframe on the M3 (subframe was out anyway having the oil pump nut tightened). Right after buying the race car, both section were reinforced. The front subframe had already started to crack. >Just wondering, Turner wants 5+ hours to install them. > Said they drop the front subframe to install the >subframe ones.... Yep.
