I was looking for the Optitek H1 bulbs by Hella in either 55w or 100w configuration for my Euro lights. www.rallylights.com The Hella bulbs are very bright and white and not ricer blue, I was very pleased with the over the phone service I received in advising me of the multiple bulbs/lights they carry. The pricing for these bulbs is very good at $30 for the pair, which is a bargain compared to other vendors for the same product the usual disclaimers, I have no affiliation blah blah blah, just a satisfied customer Rob-

New air intake filter (n/a for me due to CAI) You should at least clean your CAI filter, then. Some independent mechanics will also do a tranny & diff fluid change. They will generally be less expensive than the dealer, too. FWIW, a detailed list can be found in the Service & Warranty Manual (if you have it) or the Bentley Manual. >Other than these 4 items, it is only "check this and >check that". Seriously, for regular, routine maintenance I usually provide two suggestions: 1) Locate an independent BMW mechanic in your area (ask the list, thru the BMW CCA, etc). They are, in general, less expensive than the dealer and in many cases are enthusiasts themselves and seem to cater more to the "discerning" customer. 2) Buy the Bentley manual and go for it yourself. Most of the maintenance is pretty easy and requires a minimal amount of tools. You could probably even coax a local list-member to provide "supervision" - in my case, beer is generally required, as some may recall :-) Hope that help, Jim Bassett - the better the beer, the better I "supervise" 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44

Right. > Otherwise I've always used a regular Craftsman socket. Those electric seats are a real nuisance. I could not get anything on the nut. All of my sockets (Craftsman, Mac, SnapOn) and an open end wrench were all too thick. The nut is 3/4 buried in the electric seat rail (not enough grip on the remaining 1/4) with barely 2-3mm clearance on both sides. Even if I could chisel it loose, I would have no reliable way to torque it back down. > > 2. the rear outboard latch attachment points are obscured by a plastic > > that extends from the bottom of the rear doors up to the rear back > > cushion. I was actually one of the first BMW M3 owners out there to hav the stoptech bbk installed on my car. After 3 sets of individual calipers with different piston sizes, they finally fitted me with the front brakes that balanced the car out well. The brake lines were custom fitted and Bob Lee of stoptech had his own lines made since all the "others" out there did not fit properly. They have gone through extensive testing and engineering to get it right. Definitely not the cheapest, but in my opinion, definitely the best. Dan Wang
