Anyone done a fan-delete and Power Pulleys? TIA Kim Burgess 99M3/2 w/simple mods - XB, STD-Rings, and DEs

#2. Swaybars - from James Clay

Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 15:36:23 -0400 From: "James Clay" <james@bimmerworld.com> Subject: Swaybars This is kind of an ad, but really this is one of the coolest parts I have ever seen and I am still grinning so I am going to share with the group... I just got my new Ground Control E36 swaybars in today. We have been working on front swaybars for the E36 for months and this is the final solution. I asked for a front only for the way we tune the suspension and these will be available separately or in pairs to accommodate your setup (or for autocross where only F bar is allowed). Specs: Front - The fronts are very lightweight tubular chromoly, zinc plated. Anodized CNC aluminum brackets mount the bar to the car, include urethane bushings and a grease fitting to keep the squeaks away. The key feature of the bar set is the adjustment. Anodized CNC brackets slide on the adjustment range and clamp down when in position, allowing infinite adjustment of the bar stiffness. The bars also come with adjustable endlinks (normally $99), 6# for the whole thing, including brackets, bushings, and links. Rear - Rears are being completed and will be made to several specs. The one I will be using on our cars is very small with the same slide adjustment for the purposes of being able to tweak the balance only in a race application. There will be some more traditional setups available as well, all with the same features of the front. We are going to take advance orders on these or you can get them from Ground Control as well. The fronts are on the way to the plater's and will be ready to ship in about 1 week. The rears if needed will follow in about 1 more week. #3. 1995 M3 Wheels & Tires For Sale - from Dorffer, Rich
Top
Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 15:44:19 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: 1995 M3 Wheels & Tires For Sale I have a very nice set of stock wheels from my 1995 M3 that I need to sell. There is no curb rash at all and no cosmetic issues whatsoever and the wheels are straight (the current tires are perfectly balanced with minimal weights). Also, they have 235/40/17 tires mounted (Michelin MXX3) with approximately 70% tread left (I can measure them all and provide exact tread depths). In addition, I have two extra MXX3s with 20-40% tread left that I can throw in on the deal for free if someone wants both the tires and wheels so that they have spares in case anything would happened with the tires and one (or two) ever needed to be replaced. Pictures available upon request of the wheels and tires. Serious offers only for the wheels, tires, or both. I would rather sell everything complete though. Regards, Rich

#4. Airbag Light - from Paci, Noah

Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 15:44:19 -0400 From: "Paci, Noah" <npaci@rr.com> Subject: Airbag Light So what does it mean if the airbag light just comes on. I washed my car yesterday afternoon and this morning got in the car and noticed the light was on. I just got back from a DE event, but I didn't hit anything and my airbag never went off. :) Thoughts? Even better, Solutions? Cheers, Noah.

Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 15:46:00 -0400 From: Robert Chay <rchay@mindspring.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Phone Kit Robert, I have installed a car kit for a Nokia 6160 and then replaced it for a 8260 a couple of years later. You need to buy an antenna for your phone. Each phone works on a different frequency and needs a specific antenna. I used an interior antenna that attached to the upper right corner on the windshield. Most car kit main modules will have a connection for a radio mute but I didn't connect this since I had an aftermarket head unit and it had a mute button. I installed the speaker under the sunglass holder. There's a few holes under the rubber padding and it works well under there. I also bought a Pro Fit mount so I wouldn't have to drill holes into the dash. http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/ http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/Adobe/BM-50-96.pdf (install instructions) http://rchay.home.mindspring.com/nokia.htm (just a few pics of my install) Make sure you connect the main module to a switched power source or it will stay on all the time and kill your battery. -Bobby ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Exconde" <99e36m3@exconde.com> > > Being on the phone a lot for work and personal I"m about to install a phone > kit on my M3 ... #6. WTB: Stock 95 235/40-17 Michelin Pilot - from Carl Stern

Fronts are still decent, and I have an unused spare. Anyone wanting to unload their new spare let me know. These are no longer available anywhere new are they? I need the MXX3 model. Or are 8 year old tires garbage anyway from age? The ones on the car sure still work great. If I can't get one, is the general consensus that I must replace all 4 rather than mixing styles front and rear? Carl Stern 95 M3 24k

Got a bit of turbo lag since I put the new pistons in and lowered the compression. But that's only below 2500 rpm. There can never be too much seat time. Unless it's saddle time of the other variety :) > Jim, > > Good to see you back! How's the monster M3? You really do need more seat > time on the track <g> > > -Bobby

Even better, Solutions? Could be anything, the codebook that comes with the Peake airbag tool has a ton of things in it. Most likely culprit is the seatbelt latch sensors. Both the driver and passenger seatbelt latches have sensors in them to determine whether you're belted in or not (and thru that control how the airbag deploys). Now, these sensors have been known to go bad. Another list member (John Firestone) indicated to me this sensor had been redesigned in '97. His thought as to the recurring airbag lights was the connection under the seat for the seatbelt sensor gets interrupted somehow, and that triggers the airbag light. Once it's on, it'll stay on until it gets reset. So, how to figure out what's wrong? You can take it to the dealer and expect to pay $$. Or use the Peake airbag tool to figure out what the scoop is. That gizmo can reset the light as well. My airbag light recently came on after the NCC's autocross school. I'm guessing it's because I had 4 people squeezed in my car, one of them behind the driver, shoving the schroth harness further under the seat. Probably jiggled that connection and *whamo* - airbag light. You're in the DC area, aren't you? Drop me an email off-list, I have the Peake airbag tool. That'll tell ya for sure what the deal is.
