I had just reciently, under warrenty, had a seat-back (Bowen?) cable replaced by a local dealer. I suspected a loose connection with the wiring. A local 'indie' read the code and confirmed my suspicion. He corrected the bad connection for a nominal fee - said it would be free to hs regular customers - who I will soon be now that I'm passed 50k! Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 19:34:39 -0400 From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] re: airbag light There's a bowden cable in the seatback of the 2 door M3's, it releases the seatback so that you can squeeze people into the back seat of yer M3. I don't think that a broken bowden cable will have any impact on the airbag system - it's just a mechanical cable to release a latch. At least there wasn't any on my '97 M3 - the passenger seat cable was busted for a few weeks and no airbag light because of that. I couldn't fold the passenger seat forward though. I do know how to fix that though. Not too difficult at all, especially with the instructions courtesy of this list! #5. Sort of Broken Seat Motor - from twisty M3
Top
Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 16:47:41 -0700 From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: Sort of Broken Seat Motor I've been meaning to ask this for weeks (months actually), but keep forgetting... My passenger seat hasn't been working properly since the end of last summer. I think a student at one of the driving schools managed to damage the motor, but I'm not sure how (it worked fine before he got in the car, but hasn't worked correctly since). Anyway, they're powered Vader seats, and the motor on the passenger side works in every direction except forward and back. It's been stuck all the way back for a loooong time, so I've essentially had a two-seater for about 6 months. Works perfectly in every other direction, however, but doesn't even make sounds like it's trying to work when you attempt to move it forward. Anyone have thoughts on how to repair this? I'm not sure of the exact mechanics of the seat motors, so I'm not even sure if replacting the motor unit would cure it. Thanks, Jonathan L. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. Get 2 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/featuredemail

Even better, Solutions?
