I wouldn't ship bare rims that way, sounds like a sure-fire way of getting then nicked. You could try calling a tire shop that sells rims and see if they have any boxes from rims that you could take. Sometimes, they forget to charge the additional $5 for each unboxed package, but if they do it like they are supposed to, there is an additional $5 charge for unboxed packages. Also, FedEx Ground/Home is consistently cheaper in my experience. Service of either company makes me scratch my head at times. YMMV Later, Rich

Haven't really had a chance to push them too hard, but they seem to have very good grip in both wet and dry conditions-- oh, and they aren't too noisy (coming off of worn SO-2's). Contact me off list if you have specific questions. Thanks. No, ship bare wheels in boxes. I double up the cardboard on the face and on the side where the bead is to prevent damage. Wheels with tires installed have protection with the tire, bare wheels need cardboard protection or they are guaranteed to get beat up. I ship bare wheels two to a box with the faces of the wheels facing each other with a couple pieces of cardboard between the faces. Or, you can ship your bare wheels like this: http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/988394.phtml Later, Rich - not recommending you ship your wheels like they did in the above link ;-)

#6. Spark plug impression - from Chester Wong

Date: Mon, 21 Apr 2003 10:50:48 -0700 (PDT) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: Spark plug impression Well, I swapped out the '96+ Bosch plugs for '95 Bosch plugs two weeks ago. I originally ordered the NGKs, but they were superceeded to the Bosch part. Whether you can have them manually override the supercession...I dunno. Anyway, with the '95 plugs, gone is the weird raspy (pinging) sound at WOT. Fuel milage does appear to be affected. The only downside is at idle where every so often, there's a slight miss. I've heard this miss on other '95s, but I don't know enough about ignition systems to make a comment. Chester =====

Looks like 450 fronts and 600 rears seem to be the MAX (stiffest possible springs) you can run without re-valving the current Bilsteins. Any options/suggestions? Thanks in advance. Date: Mon, 21 Apr 2003 14:15:29 EDT From: LoweSeaton@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Spark plug impression Chester, What plugs are you using? My understanding is the Bosch F7LDCR plug is used in the '95 3.0L M3 and the Bosch FGR8KQC is used in the '96+ 3.2L M3. There is no swapping or superseding part numbers. You use one or the other based on model year of your M3. If I remember right, you do NOT have a 1995 M3. Therefore, the F7LDCR '95 M3 plug is the wrong spark plug for you. I'd replace them with the FGR8KQC plug. Are you trying to save money? I know the '96+ M3 plugs are about 3 times the price of the '95 M3 plugs. Lowell Seaton '95 M3 BMW CCA #131505

Take care, Luis For the RF wheel bearing, you'll need a BFS and a BFTW. I have the special tools but when I went to replace the LF wheel bearing, I left them at home so we just did it without. I'm lucky the inner race just pulled right off. As for the rack, if you're replacing the tie rods too, then it'll make life a bit easier. You'll need a somewhat thin 32mm open ended wrench to tighten and torque the tierods to the rack. Chester Oh, and replacing the rack is a fairly straightforward DIY job. --- Luis Rueda <Luis_Rueda@Interliant.com> wrote: > I just took my '95 M3 (75K miles) to a shop to have some tires > mounted & they informed me that the steering rack has side- > to--side play & that it needs to be replaced. Hahaha...I would have sold the car....actually, I should have. Anyway, one gripe that I've always had was a very raspy sound coming from the engine at WOT. My car is a '99 with Conforti software. Josh has been unresponsive to my inquiries about the sound which has been said as pinging. Is it really? I dunno....no one cares to inform me. I heard going with a colder plug might help and I heard that the '95 plugs are colder. What I mean by superceeded was a '95 lists two part numbers: 12 12 9 063 428 Bosch F 7 LDCR 12 12 9 064 619 NGK BKR 6 EK The '96+ lists one part number: 12 12 9 069 877 Bosch FGR 8 KQC I wanted the NGK '95 plug to try but when I ordered them, the F 7 LDCRs were delivered instead. That's what I meant by superceeded. What I have seen is people incorrectly citing a service bulletin stating that we should all be using the NGK BKR6EQUP in our cars. This is simply not true. Did I use the wrong plugs in my car? Yep...but I was aware (at least I think I am) of why I was doing so. So now my car stumbles every now and then with the '95 plugs but the rasp is gone. If the rasp was truly pinging, then I'll take the occassional miss any day over the pinging. Chester --- LoweSeaton@aol.com wrote: > What plugs are you using?
