I have a set that still has a little life left, and they've been great. I bought the 235/45R17 size because the 235/40R17 wasn't made (now it is). After nearly three years, and more over twelve track days, they're close to the end. If I had rotated them properly, they would have lasted longer. I started with full-depth tread (no shaving), and heat-cycled them myself. What I've noticed over the last 2-3 years is that more people (students as well as instructors) have switched from Kuhmo Victoracer and Yoko A032R to Toyo RA1s for the track, and have been happy with the performance of the Toyos. I ran my recent school on Pilot MXX3s (Day 1) and the RA1s on Day 2. While I was able to appreciate the difference that an R-compound tire provides, I was still amazed at the ability of the Pilot MXX3. Hopefully, the 'New and Improved' Pilot Sport will bring back the dry performance that the original Pilot MXX3 has. Since my M3 isn't a daily driver, and I tend to keep it in the garage when it rains, dry performance is most important to me, and the MXX3 has dry performance that's still awesome. I've ended up getting mine locally, however, and paying around $175-$180 each (always seems to be a last-minute purchase for me). Shop around, though. I've seen them as high as $220 each, which is ridiculous. >I'm just about out of Yoko's, I was going to try the Kumho Ecsta700's, but >maybe I'll try to get my hands on a set of Toyo's instead. > Never tried the Ecstas myself, but have yet to hear any real positive feedback on them. I do love my Toyos, however, and they last a loooong time. I don't see myself getting anything else until I find racing decals on my car. ;) As a lapping tire, they're great! Very predictable and progressive. #4. Butt Dyno Graph: UUC Lt.Wt. Flywheel - from Dorffer, Rich

Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 17:13:23 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: Butt Dyno Graph: UUC Lt.Wt. Flywheel I wouldn't recommend the Synchromax if you think it will help to dampen out some of the tranny rattle, if anything, it will make it worse IMO. I put RP Synchromax in my 325is which didn't have any tranny rattle (stock single mass flywheel with stock sprung centered clutch) with the old fluid and the tranny immediately was rattling. RP Synchromax is some slippery stuff and does make shifts nice, but I don't think it will dampen the rattling. I replaced the RP Synchromax with some heavier weight fluid and the tranny rattling is gone. www.hiperfuels.com is where I bought mine. Later, Rich

I got my Toyo RA-1 track tires from Vilven in Illinois: 888-775-8646. Price is same shaved or not. Similar grip and much better wear than Kumhos, better grip and similar wear compared to Yokos. With full tread these would make fun canyon carving tires... Neil - as if we had canyons in Indiana! 96 M3

The install was straight forward, and there is definitely a difference according to the old butt dyno. The hard anodized surface is a beautiful thing-- and while they won't look stock (who cares, a bulk of us aren't under warranty anymore anyway...), rest assured the finish will stand the test of time. I went ahead and left the fan/clutch assembly off-- which should net a few extra hp. Anyway, I just wanted to publicly thank Ben for a great product, and for all of the pre and post purchase questions that he answered quickly. Just to set the record straight, I do like the V1's arrows too - that is the 1 major drawback to the 8500. As far as warnings and falsings, I have read about both being better and lots of people going from one to the other.

Buy say a 98model year car, was built in nov 97. It sat on the lot till august of 98, you buy it. The factory warranty starts from that day forward, for 4 years. I bought a LTW M3 that was not sold by the dealer till sept.96. My warranty was good till sept 2000. It might vary by state, but I am almost 100% positve it doesnt Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Greg Cagle" <gregc@gregcagle.com> To: "E36M3" <e36m3@bmw-m.net> Sent: Thursday, April 24, 2003 12:16 PM Subject: Re: [E36M3] cat shields buzzing > Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 09:14:51 -0700 > From: Greg Cagle <gregc@gregcagle.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] cat shields buzzing > > > -------------------- 10 -------------------- > > Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 09:46:50 -0400 > > From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> > > Subject: Re[2]: [E36M3] Re: Cat shields buzzing > > > > Reid Conti writes: > > > > > >>8 years from date of manufacture, or purchase?
