Or did I miss it in the all obligatory tire chat? :) I would be curious to hear what you find out Ahmed, not a fan of the A032R but hey it's an old tire and was one of the first real DOT "R" compounds out there. I have heard they had more than one compound but never saw anything else offered. Hope the sunny south is treating you well! I am still hurting from laughing at Wayne's post. <Seinfeld Voice> Not that there is anything wrong with that! </Seinfeld Voice> Dave Spragg dave@spragg.com 99 M3 street 92 318is #330 IP (95 M3 engine and suspension)

Another Tire Question And if you compare them to the Pilot Sport: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport Or the Pilot SX MXX3: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp? tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+SX+MXX3 Which one does this new Pilot Sport "Rib" look most like??: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp? tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+Rib I guess you just had to be a fly on the wall when Michelin discontinued the Pilot SX MXX3 and introduced the Pilot Sport. The overwhelming concensus was that the Pilot Sport was better in the rain; but, overall the Pilot SX MXX3 was a better tire, particularly in the dry... Why are we debating Michelin tires anyway, I thought we were supposed to be doing the patriotic thing and not buying French/German/Russian (we already own the cars, so that's OK; and, who in their right mind eats borscht anyway... ;) Dave -----Original Message----- > Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 18:52:58 -0400 > From: "Jeremy Lucas" <jlucas@columbus.rr.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Oh no. Another Tire Question <snip> Why are we debating Michelin tires anyway, I thought we were supposed to be doing the patriotic thing and not buying French/German/Russian (we already own the cars, so that's OK; and, who in their right mind eats borscht anyway... ;) Dave <snip> In a bass-ackwards sort of way, this is kinda why I went with the Kumho MX's. I compete mostly in SCCA Solo2, and from my vantage point, Kumho more than any other tire company is supporting grassroots motorsports in the USA. Kumho has a truck at all of the Pro Solo's and National Tour's. They have been kind enough to change tires for me, even when I'm not running on Kumho's. In my experience, they're good people and they're on our side, and even if I can't race on their tires (they don't sell slicks here) the least I can do is support them by using their street tire. Besides, the MX is cheap and works great. Robert Puertas BTW - I'm running the 225/45-17's all around on my '95

Dave, Some of us are old enough to remember the Yokahama A001R. For me, that was the first "R" tire. And it was impressive in it's day, and probably started the "R" tire wars. I then moved to the A008 RSII. The A032 was the follow on tire to the A008 RSII, but I don't think it hit it big like the previous Yok R tires. By then, others had gone into the market. #7. IFG A5's for sale, 17x8 - from daniel chin

Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 20:43:06 -0700 From: daniel chin <biodan@attbi.com> Subject: IFG A5's for sale, 17x8 My dream of getting another e36m3 is gone...spending too much modifying the e46m3. These A5 wheels are true and rash-free. 2 are bare, 2 have Michelin MXX's 245/40-17 (about 2/3 tread.. on a penny, its to Abe Lincoln's brow-where it joins his hair). Big pictures (1600x1200) here: http://home.attbi.com/~biodan/ifg.html One of the wheels had a stuck centercap, and the removal process ended scoring the threads. But these are likely for track use right? 1100 shipped but 1200 if you want them with 4 brand-new, never used IFG center-caps (a long story). dan

I removed all 11/11 ths of my fan! <vbg> I was just about to complement you on how well your mods are implemented and how thoroughly they are described until you did this. I'm crushed. ;-) > > I did notice one interesting thing. Very significant too. I know you are not super happy with your aluminum radiator. I think you discouraged anyone from using the PWR radiator but this may turn the tables. You could argue that your larger radiator does more good than adding an oil cooler. You mentioned fabricating an oil cooler once - right? You probably don't need an oil cooler now. The other revelation this shows is how marginal the stock radiator/cooling system is. Neil - did you notice a change in the water temperature? What were your before and after water temperature readings? I would expect a large water temperature drop too. I think this larger, aluminum radiator might be worth pursuing afterall. Especially if you track your M3 in hot weather (read Texas). Thanks again for the good engineering analysis. Lowell Seaton '95 M3/2 Dallas, Texas
