Flywheel Well, I currently have Mobil One Gear Oil in my E30 325is tranny. After the RP Synchromax experiment, I went the entirely other direction and put in much heavier synthetic oil (75W90 Mobil One Gear Oil). No more rattling :-) It works fine when it is warmed up but the synchros are slow when first starting out and shifting is pretty stiff if the outside temps drop below 50 degrees or worse. Once the tranny warms up some it is fine but initially it is pretty stiff. I plan on experimenting some more and possibly trying Mobil One ATF and/or Red Line MTL or ATF. These would be lighter than the 75W90 Mobil One Gear Oil but potentially heavier than the RP Synchromax. Regards, Rich - still experimenting to find a decent combination of good shifting but not too light of tranny oil in my 325is. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Klein [mailto:klein@robinsonad.com] Thanks for the link, Rich. And thanks to all who've responded. Can you tell me what weight tranny fluid you wound up using? My car is actually an 1/93 325i, which I am putting the xbrace on as one of the final suspension upgrades. (have M3 equip on all 4 corners) I actually noticed on my 325i that I only have 2 of the 3 holes in the front subframe on each side where the xbrace mounts to, the center hole (which you don't do anything with) and the inner hole (hole closest to the engine on both sides, which needs to be enlarged). I need to drill the outer holes for the xbrace. I do have a 7/16ths" drill bit, so Ill use that. Thanks for the help! If your car is an M3 it probably has the nutserts installed from the factory. My 95 (7/95 production) did. If not, a 7/16 drill should only be .004" oversize and should work just fine. I think they were installed beginning with 9/94 production (start of production after the August vacations in Germany). If you haven't already seen it, here's Ron Stygar's excellent webpage for installing the x-brace: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/suspension/e36_rons_xbrace_install.html Ron's website says that 10/94 was the earliest date for nutserts to be installed at the factory, but I recall reading from list members with 9/94 production cars that had nutserts installed from the factory. #7. M3 Wheels for Sale-- 10 spoke 1's - from Jason \(RaceBro\)

Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 12:14:19 -0700 From: "Jason \(RaceBro\)" <racebro@santacruzbicycles.com> Subject: M3 Wheels for Sale-- 10 spoke 1's I wanted to offer up a fairly pristine set of 10 spoke ones off of my '95 M3 before selling them off by other means. They are too nice to be used as track wheels, and if I keep a second wheelset that's what they'll be used for. You can see photos of the wheels here: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/jrlombard/lst?.dir=/BMW+Wheels&.src=ph&.order=&.v iew=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ No curb rash, straight and true-- excellent shape. There are S02's mounted on them right now-- with little tread depth left. The tires might have one track day left in them. Asking $600 OBO. Any shipping charges would be extra-- but I can/will pack and ship them. I get corporate rates from UPS, and wouldn't charge to pack them, so we could probably ship them anywhere within the lower 48 states fairly inexpensively. If you're interested, get me a ZIP code and I can check pricing. Thanks for the bandwidth... You should try cleaning the holes. I found that the inserts would fit once I cleaned the goop out. You could also very carefully use a round file to clean any burrs in the hole that may be preventing the insert from seating. Here is a link to the description of the tool that I made, and a little discussion about it. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11540 Good luck with the install!
