Just curious here, but if the $500 credit was given to the purchaser, does that imply a reduced "value" for cars (like mine) that do not have the M-stripes on any of the leather? I'm just curious about the resale value of my car, not because I'm considering selling, I just like to always keep in mind what the perceived market value of my car is compared to the amount of money I throw at it. It's a personal OCD like thing, it keeps me from doing stupid things like spending $15K on the suspension for a car valued at 3K, like I did with my Mustang. Okay I'm rambling now, you don't mind if I start using "the list" as my own personal Blog, do you Suzy? (I'm kidding, just put the whip down!!) Not just Luxo models, but some of all M3s. They used "regular" seat leather (i.e. that used in non-M3 E36s, and had the M stripes placed on the headrests instead (personally, I like that better :-)). >I seem to >remember people saying they got a $500 check from the Dealer because of the >M-stripes being omitted on these cars. It wasn't an actual check, it was a $500 "leather credit" that was listed on the window sticker. Hence it was deducted from the purchase price. >Can anyone shed some light on this rather "trivial" subject? TIA. I just put a pair of Sparcos in my 325is race car. We attempted to use the Sparco base for the passenger side and it didn't fit (read: Sparco did a lousy job manufacturing it). We're going to "fix" it at some point but went for a different solution in the interest of of getting the car ready for a test day on Monday. I tried to use the TC Kline mounts on the driver's side, but with the Sparco sliders the stack was just too tall and would cause my helmet to interfere with the roll cage. We fabbed up a custom mount on the driver's side and used the Sparco sliders. I have a set of TC Kline seat bases for sale if anyone's interested (never used). The hardware set is incomplete (read: I'm missing the available-at-your-local-hardware-store bolts), so it's yours for $120 + shipping. Pics of my car and cage at this link. I don't think there are any pics of the custom seat mount yet, but Tony (the fabricator) is a wizard and can make anything fit. http://www.tcdesignfab.com/E36%20BMW%20CCA%20Prepared%20Car.htm - Mark -- mark@pdc-racing.net

Hi Mel, According to Jim B, we should have gotten at least M-stripes on the headrests, and headrests shouldn't be that hard for them to get. Gotta have a little talk with my Dealer on this. To bad I'm a little slow to figure this out (6 years)! As for resale...never heard anyone say to me yet..."nice car, but geez no M-stripes on the leather?" This is good news. The Interstate batteries that guys had previously recommended were the Group 49 or Group 48 size. They are NOT the same size nor same vent tube location. They both can be used but this new Group 92 is an exact replacement. I hope it is a lot better quality and longer lasting than the Douglas 92. I can't see how it could be any worse. I had a replacement BMW (i.e., Douglas 92) battery fail after just 1 yr + 1 week. I stopped buying BMW batteries after this. Thanks for the heads up. I'm sorry. That should be the Interstate MTP-91 and MTP-93 respectively. Group 48 is basically equivalent to Group 91 and Group 49 is the same as Group 93. They are the same footprint. I think the only difference is the 48/49 have the terminal posts sticking above the top of the battery case whereas the Group 91/92/93 have the terminals recessed so they are flush with the top of the battery case. I just checked the Interstate web site. They do not show a Group 92 battery. Looks like Interstate's web master needs to update the site. Lowell Seaton

Unless, as I indicated, you have the Luxury Package, in which I don't think you got M stripes anywhere. Can someone verify? My understanding is: Non-Lux M3s: stripes on seats Non-Lux M3s w/"leather credit": stripes on headrests Lux M3s: no stripes at all(?) Jim Bassett
