Does anyone on this list have the M3 LTW springs in combination with Koni single adjustable shocks and the UUC sway bars or something close? That is what I have in my garage at this time. Do you like this combination? How much lower is it than the stock configuration? What are your shock settings or do you change from street to track? What are your bar settings front and rear? Thanks, Marc 95 M3 with LTW springs sitting in garage

Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 21:34:32 -0700 (PDT) From: Garrett <garrettmcw@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Car pulls under braking I have a similar problem, can be quite a violent pull under hard braking. During the braking exercise at a recent autox school, I had disconnected the ABS to get a feel for what it was like without, and an observer said that I was locking up the right rear wheel more than any others. I thought maybe it was the RTAB's too, but replaced them (with Powerflexes) this weekend and the problem hasn't changed. So it looks like a braking system problem... I've yet to do spring brake service and am hoping there's just some air somewhere but suspect a possible funky caliper. What I don't get is why I'd get *more* braking power out of a bad caliper...perhaps the other side is bad (weak)? I suppose I could rationalize the rears locking up first since the weight is off the back end under hard braking, but am not sure if this is the correct way to think about it. When the rest of the brake system is good, do the rears lock up first when the ABS is off or broken? If so, that would point to a bad left rear caliper, but if the fronts normally lock up first and I'm locking up the right rear first, what would be the deal with that? The problem seems to be worse some times than others, fwiw, which I think would point to a caliper itself and not just air. -Garrett -------------------- 8 -------------------- Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 22:49:00 -0400 From: HyperM3@aol.com Subject: Car pulls under braking Hey all, So lately my car has been acting weird. Under braking it pulls to the left, under harder braking it really pulls to where i have to yank the wheel.

I have been meaning to do a brake fluid change in the worst way. Its been almost 3 yrs since I had it last done. (Yes I know, I know...). I haven't even checked the fluid, quite irresponsible. The pedal has been getting a lot softer in a more rapid pace. Come to think of it, precisely at the pace of how quickly the pull on braking has become an issue. I recently ordered new fluid, so that I already have. I also ordered the one-man brake bleeder from Griots. Ill let anyone know how that goes if they are interested. I think the main point is I better get this done ASAP. If this is the culprit, ill definitely keep the group posted. (Smacking self in head) I've been so preoccupied with my consumption of oil and other issues that I've let other important fluids slide. Anyway, hopefully this will be what it is, air in the brake lines. Alex "HyperM3" Demsky 97 S/C M3 ~ http://hometown.aol.com/hyperm3/Bimmer.html

Just like if somebody said M3- you would say E30, E36 or E46? Same idea. The current 911 (coded 996) was introduced in 99. The previous model to that is the 993 (95-98)- considered the ultimate 911 by enthusiasts. The 964 ended production in 1994. I forget the year it was introduced (89?). Bruce 95 M3 (that's an E36) 89 M3 2.5 (that's and E30) :-)

I could say that this discussion itself proves my point: with a 40% discount, a back seat, an actual trunk, and no sacrifice in feel or NVH, there shouldn't even BE a discussion! Nonetheless, my own experience from numerous Seat Time, Trackmasters, etc, has been that the newest iteration of the P-clam (can't keep up with their numbering - it's as illogical as ours) kicks booty on us but the earlier model (mid to late 1990's) is a good match with the M3 on track. '80's and earlier (street) P-clams are simply snacks for the E36 M3. Or maybe the faster, hairy-chested P-clam drivers only show up at PCA/POC events. Dunno, could be. But BMW CCA Club Racers in Florida do just fine against them in combined POC races with similar classes from the reports I hear (no personal experience). Dave Hogg
