I am an original owner of my 91 M3 and tracked that car since 1992 till 2000 then retired that car back to street use and build a 88 M3 IP track car. Yes E30 M3s are expenive to own due to manitence. I am on my second engine now. I love my S14s AND I love my S50 also. They are really NOT the same cars. I don't like to compare the 2 b/c they are so different animals. All I can tell you IF you are thinking about doing the E30 M3 is that you really need to get out to the track and get rides in as many as you can. Talk to the owners and ask them their likes and dislikes. Most of the M3s of any style used on the track are not stock anymore so you can get a feel of what different suspension and shocks work and feel like. The cost of the S14 verse is S50/52 is higher, BUT I also never heard of any S14 drivers mis-shifting. Others have given some very excellent reasons for and against the S14 and the S/M 50. Currently, I know of more guys doing the JP e36 325i cars then E30 m3s. Its more economical to run a 325i. Each new standard usually comes out no sooner than the end of the year whose name it bears, with new helmets lagging by some amount. So Snell 2005 helmets would be expected sometime into 2006. Of course forecasting is difficult, especially of the future. Neil 96 M3

In which case, due to the clear coat - which is the top layer of paint you don't want to lose - you wouldn't be able to tell whether the clay was taking it off or not. Right? Neil 96 M3

#5. E30 M3 versus E36 - compare/contrast - from Dorffer, Rich

I think the primary class of racing in Germany that the E30 M3 raced in was a "sedan" class was it not? Some use the term "coupe" to refer to a two door car without a rear seat. Touring is equivalent to station wagon. I think one guy on this list calls his four door M3 car a "club cab" (which I have never seen used before this to describe a four door sedan). The ETK uses the term "coupe" as a two door, "compact" as the hatchback, "limousine" as a four door and "touring" as the wagon. Regards, Rich 95 M3 - two door sedan/saloon 95 325is - two door sedan/saloon

Date: Fri, 2 May 2003 08:44:28 -0400 From: "drwillb" <drwillb@msn.com> Subject: RE: ECSTA V700 wear The current Grass Roots Motorsports (p.177) mentions that their tire test last year was run with K6A compound V700's . Earlier this year there was a change to K8A compound, which is supposed to be harder. I purchased a set of shaved V700's two weeks ago and the tires are loaded in the back seat, along with countless other stuff, in preparation for a track event. I can't check what compound I have but I'll do so at the track and give everyone some feedback. As far as what is being posted, though, what compound were you guys running? There is a stamped marking on the sidewall, near the bead. Bill Molina sweating over my $700 expense

Supposedly mid Summer the new compound > will be out. I thought the *new* compound is already out and was released as SEMA last year? They claimed some significant improvements, but they made the same claim when the original compound was released... I'll believe their claim when someone does some real testing against Hoosiers, etc... > At the last race, a SCCA National driver told on of the guys I drive > with that he ran Victoracers V700s all last year because of the same > issues. The greater the slip angle the more accelerated the wear with > the current compound. At the Solo II nationals last year, I saw more than 1 Kumho sponsored driver on Victoracers... There have been many rumored compound changes for the Ecsta V700's since they were released and I have heard conflicting information from Kumho and their sponsored drivers. IMO, the victoracers are a good tire, but the Ecsta's have left me cold... And, the conflicting marketing related info, rather than real techincal info coming from Kumho doesn't build my confidence... Bill

#10. '97-'99 Side Marker Lights - from Jason \(RaceBro\)
Top
Date: Fri, 2 May 2003 08:11:07 -0700 From: "Jason \(RaceBro\)" <racebro@santacruzbicycles.com> Subject: '97-'99 Side Marker Lights Gruppe, I have a pair of '97-99 side marker lights that I bought as part of a lot on eBay. Being that I have a '95 car they are of no use to me. They are in really good shape, no cracks or damage to speak of. Looks like "retail" is about $40-$45 for the pair. If anyone needs a set I'll sell for $20 including shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states... Thanks for the bandwidth.
