I want to get a set of SS lines custom made, and they said the best way to get exactly the right fit is send in the old lines. That, for obvious reasons, has its limitations.....I can return them if needed. I am going to see if I can get braided lines with protective sleeves and correct furrals MADE, since no-one seems to sell them. Thanks! Dave

Send Josh @ Eurosport and email or call him, he'll be able to answer that. BTW, you can check if your car is still Sharked by checking where the rev limiter kicks in. Jim Bassett

#3. replacement cat - from Jeff Thompson

Date: 05 May 2003 13:11:44 -0400 From: Jeff Thompson <jthompson@telco.com> Subject: replacement cat Hi all, Well, as if it knew it was being talked about, my converter started buzzing this past weekend. There really isn't enough shield left to even wrap a wire around. I also don't have a chance of a warranty replacement since I have over 100k miles and a build date of 10/94. I'm hopoing that since it's a '95, I have some options of a decent aftermarket system. So, what is the consensus on a good replacement cat if I have to get one? Are there any "high-flow" ones out there that will actually make a difference when combined with a good cat-back system? Or should I stick with an OEM replacement or something? Any input is appreciated. Thanks! -jeff

#7. Tyres and Tranny Fluid - from Steve Klein
Top
Date: Mon, 5 May 2003 13:26:07 -0700 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Tyres and Tranny Fluid Hello, All- First, a quick impression of the Goodyear F1's: Noise: Very quiet on the road. Even at speed right next to the Jersey barriers. Talkative once you begin breaking grip. In the Wet: Very Grippy. I drove through the storms that hit K.C. last night with a good deal of confidence in the tires and a dog in my basket. Aggressive braking, accelerating, cornering and powering out of a corner in 1st and 2nd were nice and crisp with almost no wheelspin. Wear: TBD Grip: I'll hold off here, since I don't have the proper venue to test, nor the experience of the list with the car or other tires and compounds to give a meaningful report. On the few on ramps, merge lanes and other cherished pieces of road where I can push the car, I'd say that the grip seems to go a bit before both the MXX3s and Pilot Sports, but it was very predictable, loosing grip smoothly as opposed to abruptly, and very similar to both the X3s and Sports in the audible feedback when they start talking. Of note is that the temps were in the mid 60's, I was driving just before sunset and the tires were not up to temp with only about 10 minutes of city driving before my 'testing.' I hope not all of this information is irrelevant, and I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. As far as Tranny Fluid, is it possible to run a blend in the case? This weekend, I replaced the fluid with Mobil1 ATF at Rich's suggestion after hearing of his experience with the 70W-90 gear oil and the chatter is greatly diminished, but there's still a little. Would it be possible to run a blend of the two to thicken the soup, as it were? Thanks, Steve

Date: Mon, 5 May 2003 15:21:10 -0400 From: morris.michael@tiax.biz Subject: Guibo/Center Carrier Bearing Work Hello List, I will be swapping out my guibo soon. From what I understand, in order to do this, I will have to drop the center carrier bearing as well. Since I am going through the trouble of getting to the bearing, I figured I would try and swap that out as well. Has anyone done this before who can give some feedback on the center carrier bearing R&R? -Does the bearing press-on or can it be installed without a press? (i.e. underneath my car on jacks!). -How tough is it to split the drive-shaft to get the bearing on? -Does the drive-shaft need to be disconnected from the rear-diff? If so, is this a splined type connection or is there an input shaft to the diff which the drive-shaft bolts up to? Thanks in advance! Date: Mon, 5 May 2003 15:29:09 -0400 From: "Carey Probst" <hcprobst@alum.mit.edu> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Where to get Euro ellipsoid headlights? From my point of view, yes for a number of reasons. 1. Beam pattern - Euros have a distinct cut off which is good for oncoming drivers and which puts the available light on the road, not the tops of the trees. Standard wattage lights in the lows of the Euros illuminate as well if not better than US highs. Last night coming back from the Cannonball One Lap, my brother-in-law commented on my lights compared to his new 'Vette and when I hit the highs, he was really impressed. I only run 80 watts in the lows. 2. Mutch better selection of lights levels if you want to upgrade. You can get H1s in a variety of wattages from standad 55w to 135w. I use the 100s in the highs and either 65 or 80 w in the lows. If you stay 80w or lower you don't need to change the fuse but I would recommend the high temp wires. May not be needed but cheap insurance from melting the insulation. 3. Lenses are real glass, not soft plastic. Don't chip as easily and can be replaced without changing the whole assembly. 4. I really like the city lights in my ZKWs. I wired them to a switched circuit so they act like daytime running lights. Replace with a halogen #96 and have some real light from them. Plus I personally like the look better than the Angel Eyes. (no flames needed from those with Angel Eyes, enough people already question my taste) Carey -----Original Message----- From: Go, Jeffrey [mailto:jeffrey.go@sap.com] Sent: Monday, May 05, 2003 2:12 PM To: 'Carey Probst'; E36M3 Subject: RE: [E36M3] Where to get Euro ellipsoid headlights?
