I think I'll clean it up with brake cleaner and see, although I am usually not that lucky. Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 08:46:20 -0700 (PDT) From: Barrett Nicholas <barrettn@swbell.net> Subject: Rear speaker died - anyone have a spare or replacement suggestion? One of my rear speakers has died, does anyone have an extra one they'd like to exchange for some $$? (Maybe stripped from a track car?) If it's the nicer HK speakers, I'd need both (I'd like both speakers to sound the same). In case no one has one, anyone have a suggestion for an aftermarket speaker? I'm looking for something that could be used with no or minimal changes, I'd prefer to not cut up the rear package shelf. tia, Barrett'95 325i (on the list due to the grace of Suzy and because I have a lot of the typical M3 mods.)

Barrett, I have both HK rear speakers from a take-off job that I did but without the mid-tweeter. See here http://www.amt.org/mel/Penny_Speakers.htm I have the HK 6x9's and the baffle baskets, but no mounting clips (plastic cover over the speaker) or the tweeters. Let me know if this meets your needs. Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 17:09:07 -0400 From: "na na" <mhellard@columbus.rr.com> Subject: Columbus OH mechanic needed Anyone know a good mechanic in the Columbus, OH area? I bought my 95 used this fall and need to have some work done on it. (speedometer issues, Fault Code 1234) An independent mechanic is preferred, but honesty is the #1 priority. I also need to have a 4-wheel alignment done. If anyone knows a good shop for that. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Either that, or someone in your area should have a recommendation of a good independent BMW mechanic. It's been my experience that most of the good ones won't charge you for the 1 minute it takes to read out the code. ($89?!? Heck, if I was local to you, I'd read the code for you for half that <bg>.) Save going to the dealer for warranty work; find a good independent mechanic for everything else. IMO, YMMV, PDCC, ect. :-) Jim Bassett - former dealer-goer

#10. e36 M3 camber plates - from RFKoby@aol.com
Top
Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 22:19:41 EDT From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: e36 M3 camber plates for everyone that inquired about camberplates, here is a status update. I have designs for: - 1995 E36 M3, 3 settings, approx. 1/2 degree increments - 1995 E36 M3, 3 settings, approx. 3/4 degree increments - 1996+ E36 M3, 4 settings, approx. 3/4 degree increments 1995 M3's with lowered suspension start at about 1-1/2 degrees negative 1996+ M3's with lowered suspension start at about 3/4 degrees negative I am waiting for the National Tech for BMW CCA Club Racing to review the use and legality of "FIXED CAMBER PLATES IN STOCK CLASS". Once an official ruling is made (I hope legal), I will start to make these for those that inquired. Several have commented on the cost of racing in stock class and how these camber plates would be another expense to waste money on. Keep in mind that stock camber on E36 M3's is not sufficient to maximize the tread wear and grip. Be prepared to throw away tires that are corded on the outside 1/4 with still full tread depth on the inside, OR start spending more money have the tires flipped after each event. Please petition the rules committe with your comments and concerns, both positive and negative. Keep this off-line, enough band width has been wasted with the petty bickering over this issue. For those that still want these camber plates (for the non-racers), please contact me privately so I can source the raw materials and punch out the blanks. sincerely Bob K.

#11. Wheel Spacers/RTABs - from twisty M3
Top
Date: Wed, 07 May 2003 19:22:06 -0700 From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: Wheel Spacers/RTABs Howdy all, 1) I have 8.5" factory Contours on the front and rear with 245/40-17 SO3s and I'm starting to notice some contact between the strut and tire. Not much, but I'd rather play it safe and get some spacers. I'd also prefer to get them in the front and rear, and be able to use them with my 8" RKs for track use. My rear fenders are rolled. Does anyone have experience with these wheel choices and 5mm vs 10mm wheel spacers? I'm sure 10mm would probably work with the RKs, but they may be a bit wide for the Contours in the rear. Does anyone run these wheels with the 10mm spacers? For what it's worth, I've got close to -3.5 degrees of camber in the front, and about -1.7 in the rear. 2) Just got my car back with it's new RTABs (stock rubber) and GC inserts. Holy Cow!!!! I guess they were in worse shape than I realized, because the car feels transformed now. No more left/right hop when I hit bad pavement and it feels like the car puts down power (in a more controlled fashion) much better too. It's a suprising difference of the old bushings, and I'm VERY happy. Especially since no other bushings appeared to need replacement. I can't really attest to the value of the GC inserts yet, but will be giving the car a good workout in Las Vegas (sign up if you haven't yet!!) in about two weeks. 3) I just officially hit 100k miles on my way back from the mechanic (car will be 4 years old in 2 months), and I'm very happy the motor didn't blow up. ;) Jonathan L. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8.
