I've been using Hoosier 225/45/17's for a while on 17x8.5 Kosie rims. They are as wide as 235's. Hoosiers stick great, but do not last too long. Of course the longevity of R-compound tires is very dependant upon driving style and suspension setup. - Jim Hagerman 99 M3 -----Original Message----- From: bs [mailto:m3bs@comcast.net] Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2003 17:16 To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] Re: Was flipping Kumho's - now Flippin' Kumho's! First the guy cut a piece of black plastic (garbage bag) to the exact size/shape of my window. Then he wet the window film down with watered down ammonia and pressed the plastic bag against the INSIDE of the tinted/wetted window. He then parked the car in the sun to get the window hot (hence the black plastic). Once it was hot he was able to peel up a corner of the tint and pull it all off in a couple of big strips. Alcohol or ammonia and elbow grease removed the (little) residual sticky. Hope this helps, Kevin -------------------- 7 -------------------- Date: Sat, 24 May 2003 14:12:30 -0400 From: "Carey Probst" <hcprobst@alum.mit.edu> Subject: Removing window tint The PO of the 325e I'm turning into a track car tinted the rear windows and it is cracked and looks terrible. #4. Brake circuit failure light notice! - from eevans@planetc.com

Date: Sun, 25 May 2003 15:46:34 -0400 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: Brake circuit failure light notice! Hi, Yesterday I started getting the message that there was "Brake circuit or brake light failure" prompting a Check control light. It started after I was rummaging around trying to locate the "hidden" CD changer connections in the trunk of my '95 M3. I pulled on some brake light wires I'm sure, but I neatly put all of the wiring exactly back as it was. I really didn't disturb the wires a lot, mostly collateral movement while pulling the carpeting back. I don't get the "failure" notice everytime I drive or even when I start up, but intermittently maybe after driving several miles it's coming on now. I've checked all of the bulbs, connections, etc. Have I loosened something that's causing this? How do I track it down? This weekend at Gratten, I was also having problems with wear on the Ecstas that I was trying to use up (more on that at the end). Now you'll have to take this with a grain of salt since it was in a FWD Showroom Stock "C" Civic. I normally run about 42 psi hot with most track tires with good success, but I was damaging a tire every session by what I can only describe as blistering or local delaminating. Thankfully there was a guy there who had seen that before.... the solution was to increase the tire pressure to run about 45-46 psi hot. Don't know if that will help you but it saved me from running out of tires during the weekend. Just to add to the confusion, the Victoracers are about 0.5 seconds faster on our showroom stock cars, but the Ecsta are faster on David Roush's SSB Miata which has more camber adjustment from the factory and of course RWD. I think pretty much everybody agrees that the Victo's have a much longer usable life. YMMV.... Have about 100k miles on them. I replaced them thinking they were the culprit of a slight misfire I had, but they weren't the cause. So they should be in fine working order. $50 Contact me privately at: john0990@yahoo.com Thanks! John __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. #7. Stereo and Suspension part number questions - from Carguymb@aol.com
Top
Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 11:05:38 EDT From: Carguymb@aol.com Subject: Stereo and Suspension part number questions I'm considering the often-discussed strut hat swap, installing flipped '96+ hats (right side on left and vice-versa) on my '95. Anybody have the part numbers for the '96+ hats handy, and any issues using these with the stock '95 springs? Also, I will likely have the C43 i-bus radio/cassette head unit from my Z3 replaced shortly, and wondered about popping it into the M3 in place of the current C33 (I know an aftermarket system would offer even better sound, but humour me here; the C43 is supposed to be superior to the C33). Along with the earlier C33 stereo, the M3 also has the factory trunk CD changer. Now, I recall hearing about a harness adapter to install a C43 i-bus radio into an earlier car. Anyone know the part number, and whether the i-bus head unit will also control the older changer through the adapter harness? TIA, Martin Bullen '95 M3 '97 Z3 2.8

Everything works out fine. I had to shim the right front strut to get the cross camber to equalize out. I have -2 degrees on both sides now with the stock springs in. -josh --- Carguymb@aol.com wrote: > Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 11:05:38 EDT > From: Carguymb@aol.com > Subject: Stereo and Suspension part number questions > > > I'm considering the often-discussed strut hat swap, > installing flipped '96+ > hats (right side on left and vice-versa) on my '95. > Anybody have the part > numbers for the '96+ hats handy, and any issues > using these with the stock '95 > springs? > > Also, I will likely have the C43 i-bus > radio/cassette head unit from my Z3 > replaced shortly, and wondered about popping it into > the M3 in place of the > current C33 (I know an aftermarket system would > offer even better sound, but > humour me here; the C43 is supposed to be superior > to the C33).
