I had the same happen to me recently where I reset the lights and the lights were going real quick. It got to the point where I think the yellow light went out which has never happened before. Granted, I have been driving the car 80 miles a day, but still...that was a bit fast. Perhaps it is programmed to go faster after Inspection I where the car would be out of warranty? ;-) Chester --- Karrgi@aol.com wrote: > I changed the oil in my 98 M3/4 in late March with 30,200 mi and rest the > service lights. I forgot the exact routine to set it correctly, but it involves going all the way down and then hold and go all the way up. Though, it was at around 60-70K miles (can't really remember exactly). I'm not sure why it happened, but it hasn't done that since... It's back to the usual intervals now. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that I was always taking my car in for service with one green light still on so that I could get more things done under warranty. ;) Maybe the DME was just trying to get things back on track?? Asked my mechanic and he said it was probably just because of the fact that I track my car... The harder you drive, the quicker they go out. That made sense, but not to this extent. Each light was going out in less than 500 miles! It had seen plenty of track time before that and it now sees more track time than ever now, yet it doesn't seem to have much effect on the lights. Hmm, not sure, but it's easy to check the switches. Lift up the shift boot and pop the switches out from underneath. Swap 'em and see if the problem follows the switch. Jim Bassett

Other way round - go all the way down, then all the way up and hold for 5 seconds. At least, that's what worked last week on the race car after borrowing it's battery for the M3 :-) Jim Bassett

Uh...how is that different than what I wrote? :) Or was the "hold and go all the way up" confusing? Cuz that's what I meant ;) Chester =====

Cuz that's what I meant ;) Hmm, I guess I read it as: "Go all the way down and hold, then go all the way up." The "holding" takes place AFTER the window goes all the way up. If that's what you meant, sorry :-) It just didn't read that way to me (but then it's not even 9AM here, so who knows :-)) Jim Bassett
