I got the kit used for a very good price, but I've had to sink a lot of time and effort into getting it where it should have been in the first place (and there's still more to do). I figure I have a bit over $4000 in it, plus countless hours - I did all the work myself. If I had to do it all over again I'm not sure I would. OTOH, torque goooooood. I have several dozen driver's schools and track days and 8 auto-x events on it, and it still pulls like an amphetemine-crazed mule. - Alain ----- Original Message ----- From: <LoweSeaton@aol.com> > Neil, > > No, it wasn't RMS. Pull the unit out (push up on it from the sunglass compartment), pull it forward.. it will come out. There are little twisty-sockets at the top of the LCD screen, 3 for the data part and 1 for the clock. Get a new bulb from your dealership, should be a buck or less. - reid On Wednesday, Jun 4, 2003, at 16:32 US/Pacific, R. Kao wrote: > Date: Wed, 04 Jun 2003 19:16:03 -0400 > From: "R. I'm planning on getting the steel black cad plated open ended 17mm nuts and the gold anodized studs that you turn in with an allen key. Unfortunately for you guys running spacers, the longest stud this place has in stock are 48mm. They carry 58mm ones, but are out of stock. I'm going to place the order in the next few days, prices are $0.50 each for the nuts, $1.50 for the studs. Drop me an email if you're interested. -josh ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Calendar - Free online calendar with sync to Outlook(TM). http://calendar.yahoo.com

Umm, mucho $$$ for sure...didn't he already rebuild his motor after melt down, new pistons, etc. He also spent an incredible amount of time tuning and dynoing it. I don't know if I would call this a success but maybe the forced induction crowd does. Later, Rich

Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2003 11:10:12 -0700 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Octane Rebirth Hi, Steve- I'd thought about the height difference (approx. 1/4") when I installed and removed them, but I forgot to compare the height of the rubber mounts to the original hourglass shaped mounts. I had assumed (stupid always, yes) that since they sold the mounts with or without the cups that they were the same height. Another lister might be able to chime in on this and any possible effects. . . As far as the SSK, I'm driving a '95, and I'm still using my stock shift knob. the fit of the kit was perfect and the original knob and boot dropped back on with nary a whimper. As for my choice of the Octane, that came from following the threads on SSKs over the past year or so and accumulating evaluations of the various kits by listers. The weighted selector rod and the use of Ertalyte TX (with their write-up on its properties) along with a host of favorable reviews swayed my decision. I've also noticed that the main pivot ball is not machined into the selector lever, but held by two clip rings in two of several grooves which makes the height/leverage adjustable. I've left mine in the position it shipped in until I learn more about what adjusting it will effect. I've ordered from both companies before and been very pleased with their products. The final decision was based mainly upon the specifics of construction. I believe both will allow you to retain your stock knob. Hopefully, some of this might be helpful! #10. More SSR Integrals -- 17 x 8 this time - from KLchmn@aol.com
Top
Date: Thu, 05 Jun 2003 15:58:50 -0400 From: KLchmn@aol.com Subject: More SSR Integrals -- 17 x 8 this time Gruppe, Turns out that I have a set of 4 - SSR Integrals in 17 x 8 for sale (E36M3 fitment -- no spacers needed). These are track wheels with nicks and scrapes in the paint. The wheels have aluminum hubcentric rings. One wheel has a very minor wobble in it, but I've never noticed it causing a vibration on the race car (it was on the front at the last race). The wheels currently have Toyo RA-1s in 235/40/17 size. I had these tires shaved to 5/32nds before I used them and they have one race weekend (two races, two quals, two practice sessions) on them (still in excellent shape, even on the shoulders). Please email me at klchmn@aol.com if you are interested. I will seperate the wheels from the tires if you only desire the wheels (please indicate your preference). I will not sell the tires alone. Shipping would be your cost from 89144. I *might* be able to bring these to the Willow Springs driving school this weekend (I have one other set of wheels to take!). Cheers, Kirk Lachman '95 M3 #21 I-stock or N3, depending on who I race with! <g>
