#1. adjustment of sway bar links - from Gary A. Preece

Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2003 12:54:28 -0400 From: "Gary A. Preece" <gapreece@entreky.net> Subject: adjustment of sway bar links Hey Guys and Gals, I just bought the Ground Control Sway bar links from Bimmerworld and wondered how I am supposed to adjust them. I am sure that I will just set them the same as the stock ones and then I assume increase the length. What is the effect that I should be trying to obtain? My last ones only lasted 25K so I thought I would try something different. TIA. Gary Avus 95 M3 --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] [Service Provided by: Entreky.Net]

No real world > numbers, but real world facts. I will back up Jon's point with my own facts. My old grp N Euro 3.0L (the grp N referred to the cams only) generated 311 hp (engine dyno) Using only BMW's OEM stroker kit (which doesn't touch the block or the head, just pistons, rods and crankshaft), it became a 3.2L with 344 hp (yes, this had a slightly modified cam, otherwise it would've been expected to generate 326 hp). The real difference? TORQUE. PTG estimates the stroke was good for nearly 50 ft/lbs. I don't have starting values, but I was generating 285 ft/lbs. with the 3.2L (also engine dyno). Dan Snyder

Is it simply plug and play (I heard it is)? Are there any issues with hooking up the OE cd changer in the trunk (I believe it is the OE BMW unit...Pioneer CDX-M91 IIRC). Regards, Rich

Use a pressure bleeder if possible (they are cheap) or get a helper (say push, they push on the pedal, you open the bleed screw, 7mm box end, they say floor, you close the screw and say release, they release the pedal and say top, repeat). With a pressure bleeder, you just make sure the fluid is full, pressurize the container, and walk around cracking the bleed screws until you get enough fluid out. At the end of the process, I like to pump the brake pedal about 5 times and then quickly open and close the bleed screw before the pedal gets to the floor. Call if you get stuck. Keep fluid in your reservoir. James Clay http://www.bimmerworld.com Engineered BMW Performance 540.639.9648

Its so wet that I can squeeze water from stepping on it!!! Is there a water drain for teh windshield cowl like the elephant trunk for the E30s. Is there a drain on the firewall? I bet if there is one, mine is completely clogged. I don't think my sunroof drains are clogged. The windshield is a replaced unit and I do hear wind noise on the highway so maybe my windshield is not sealed right and its leaking inside the car BUT on both sides? This is the combo air intake/water separator for you heater system. If the drains get clogged up (e.g. you park your car under trees and debris gets into the cowl vent and builds up over the years) then the water has no where to go and when is builds up to a certain level, and especially when you drive and its sloshing around, it goes down the heater air intake and into you passenger compartment. What really screwed me up was that I was getting wet carpets in the rear seat only. That't when I found out that BMW's have heater exhaust ports under the front seats pointing at the rear seat area. Clean out the cowl drain holes and tubes. -----Original Message----- From: Tim Ng [mailto:s14realm3@peachtreebmwcca.org] Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2003 4:31 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] water logged carpet Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2003 16:21:51 -0700 From: "Tim Ng" <s14realm3@peachtreebmwcca.org> Subject: water logged carpet in my 95 M3, with all this rain on the east coast, my carpet is soaked on BOTH sides of my M3.
