Please email me with a price. If you want to just charge me shipping fees out of the the goodness of your heart, that would be acceptable too. It pretty much sucked--like I couldn't figure out what the heck the car was doing, where the limit was, etc... just felt totally clueless. Frustrating. Second day at VIR last fall one of the R1s finally got down to the cords and I switched back to my Pilot Sport streets for the afternoon...whoa, what a difference! Suddenly everything felt great! The car was talking to me! Woohoo! Comfort level and fun quotient dramatically increased, and I do believe I was actually hauling more ass on the streets than the R-compounds. Obviously I'm not ready for track tires even after something like six DE events. YMMV of course, but I'm staying with streets at the track this year. -Garrett

#3. UUC Stage 2 flywheel - from DocWyte

Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 14:47:11 -0700 (PDT) From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> Subject: UUC Stage 2 flywheel Hey all, I installed one of these along with the matching E34 M5 clutch set in my '95 M3 about 5000 miles ago. Supposedly it's "rattle" free. Well, not quite. I can hear rattling at idle, it gets worse when the car is hot, like after auto-x runs, and substantially worse when I have the AC on. To the point where it's just really damn loud. The noise goes away immediately when I put the clutch in, which makes me very suspicious of the throw out bearing. I called UUC to ask them about this and they told me to change the tranny oil from my current Mobil 1 ATF to Redline MT-90. I have a few quarts of the MT-90 here ready to go in, but I'm still skeptical about the oil being the problem. I was wondering if anyone else on the list has the same symptoms as me and solved them merely by changing the oil... Thanks! -josh ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! Bzzzt! Dealer #1 screwed up. The 51-71-2-268-673 is for the M3 Lightweight, which has a very different undertray arrangement. I don't suppose that part would even fit on yours without retrofitting all the other LTW parts. Dealer #2 gave you correct info. The -643 part is the undertray itself, and the -690 is the removable baffle which blocks the area where the factory oil cooler would be if BMW hadn't cheaped out on us. > Has anyone seen data re: the downforce provided by the variation in the > hump' of the 3.0 panel vs. the 3.2 vs. the JT panel vs. non M vs. going > without, etc? Even the Ultimates aren't meant to be a true track pad (but for $60/pair they make a good argument for an aggressive street pad). For some cars the MMs are a better-than-OEM replacement for the street. But for the M3, from reading this list and the other two, it sounds like the OEM pads are better, and I won't argue with that. It also surprises me that pads like EBC are very well-received for other cars, but not BMWs (?). With the dusting I get, I might try the Ultimates as my next street pad. I had the windows down while doing this and now they won't roll up! Fuse is fine, I can hear the motors trying. The window is up perhaps 1" or so. Funny thing is, if I open the door, the window moves down a bit, then goes back up when I close the door, as if it was all the way at the top. Do I need to resyncronize the windows and how do I do that if they're not responding to the switch! Please help asap, I don't want to leave the windows down overnite! Put a lightweight flywheel in a Vette, and you get the same rocks in a can sound. The slower/lower your idle speed, the ore noise. Heavier fluid will help some, as it dampens the gear rattle. It does not remove the noise though. The other difference between Corvette ZFs and BMW ZFs is two, count em, two overdrive gears. Both 5th and 6th are OD, something like .7 for 5th and .5 for 6th!
