#1. Euro AFM adapter - from Frank & Kirsten
Top
Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 17:59:18 -0700 From: "Frank & Kirsten" <FranKirsten@msn.com> Subject: Euro AFM adapter I cross posted this question, hoping to find anyone who has sourced an adapter that allows you to use the Euro AFM to the stock intake boot that attaches to the throttle body. I'm installing a euro airbox and meter, and was hoping to find something cheaper than the sixty six buck part from Turner. Thanks, Frank

#2. Wobble in front driver corner - from Jason Knight

Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 18:11:11 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Knight <knight2244@yahoo.com> Subject: Wobble in front driver corner I'm trying to diagnose the source of what seems to be a wobble in the front driver wheel area on my '97 2dr. The wobble occurs around 60-70 mph, and is smoother at lower and higher speeds. The steering wheel shimmys from side to side slightly, as though it were a balance issue. I first noticed it on a set of wheels / tires I purchased. I had them remounted and balanced, and thought the issue was the balance. I swapped the fronts side to side and the issue was still present. I swapped out to another set of wheels / tires, and the issue is still present. With all these swappages, I can't imagine that it is a result of tire balance. My thoughts are wheel bearing, or some other suspension bit in the front driver corner. I've inspected the area numerous times, and can't find any bushing or piece that looks troubled. I've pushed / pulled the wheel, and don't feel any movement. Plus I don't hear any noise that friends with wheel bearing / hub issues have (albeit on other makes / models). Does anyone have a been there done that, or suggestion on what to check. The car is still fun to drive, but I'd like to dial it back in. Thank you. Jason

Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2003 00:33:21 -0400 From: Craig Perrin <cperrin@tampabay.rr.com> Subject: Re: UUC Stage 2 flywheel Josh, I installed the same set-up a month ago, and have experienced the same idling Peterbilt noises you mention. Three days ago, I gave it a shot and tried the Redline MT-90. The results? Zilch. The rattle is unchanged. But my belief going into the UUC set-up, confirmed by experience, was that clatter would be part of the deal. Since I expected it, I find it a minor annoyance, mainly while idling with the clutch out in my garage (probably a bad idea anyway). In exchange I get bat-outta-hell acceleration in the lower gears and very rapid blips into the corners. One other note: A rugged rubber clutch-stop has really helped my timing with the higher engagement point of the M5 clutch. No more embarrassing over-revving on the 1-2 shift. #5. need help with wierd noise - from Hunt Hodgetts

Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2003 05:34:51 -0700 (PDT) From: Hunt Hodgetts <hhodgetts@yahoo.com> Subject: need help with wierd noise I just picked up another M3 yesterday, a 96 Black with 76k miles. While driving on the interstate, I noticed a noise coming from the area of the passenger side view mirror. It sounded like broken plastic rattling around. I encountered the exact same noise, but louder, in my last M3, a 96 Green with 155k. I had a mechanic ride with me in that one and with his ear up to the mirror housing, he said it sounded like wind noise. I went through an extensive effort to identify it by using duct tape to cover virtually every crack that might be letting in air around the mirror, up the window, in the door jam, etc. Has anyone else encountered this problem and successfully identified the culprit? If so, your suggestions would be appreciated. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com

#6. M3 with cloth? - from Hunt Hodgetts

Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2003 05:41:50 -0700 (PDT) From: Hunt Hodgetts <hhodgetts@yahoo.com> Subject: M3 with cloth? Yesterday, I purchased a Black 96 M3 with cloth interior. I have looked at over 500 E36 M3's and never seen one with cloth. The interior is black, the seats are vaders, and the sides of the seats are a black suede. The middle, though, is black with pink and blue lines in a spider web pattern. Even the door inserts have this. Does anyone know the story about this? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com

Is the 90W oil specified just for LWT flywheel applications or are the other reasons that one might want to use it in an E36 transmission? Thanks

It is the base seat, leather seats were an option that all dealers usually ordered. To get cloth seats, you had to order the car without the leather option and wait for it. Dealers did not stock these cars as most people buying luxury BMWs would never dream of getting it with cloth seats. They do look good and I would have preferred to have cloth instead of the Nappa leather personally. I have seen 5 or 6 M3s with cloth over the years, not counting LTWs which had cloth aswell.
