Fact is the new UUC and Rogue setups both dampen it out a lot better than the "unsprung/undamped" LTW flywheel systems do. UUC uses the M5 plate and Rogue has its own trick carbon fiber plate with dampening springs. They both work but the factory makes compromises on everything - in this case a heavier flywheel to get rid of the low-rpm rattle. I have the Rogue, and unless the a/c compressor is running it's silent. With the a/c on at idle (idle drops 100 rpm) it sounds like the "bad cat" syndrome our cars are so fond of developing. Not very noticeable from inside, but my mechanic (who didn't install the LTW flywheel - the dealer did - long story) was sure the cat had expired again when he heard it from the outside. Well, the NEW compromise works for me - this sucker really scoots through the gears with the LTW flywheel! Dave Hogg '98 M3/4

#4. Wanted: OEM Wheel Center Cap - from Jason Knight

Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 16:27:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Knight <knight2244@yahoo.com> Subject: Wanted: OEM Wheel Center Cap I'm looking for one (1) center cap for my factory 10 spoke wheels. I believe the part number is 36-13-1-095-361. I could buy one on ebay for $10 or so, but they want $4 for shipping, and something about that rubs me the wrong way. If anyone has one laying around that they don't want, I'll pay, say, $7 + shipping. Paying extra shipping charges is like getting dinged for using another banks atm. It's just waste. I'd rather drop the money on the ground. But that's just me. Thanks, Jason

#6. Initial impressions of mods installed today... - from DocWyte

Date: Sat, 5 Jul 2003 19:24:32 -0700 (PDT) From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> Subject: Initial impressions of mods installed today... Well, today was another install fest on my '95 M3. I installed the following: Redline MT-90 in the tranny. I put in a UUC stage 2 ltw flywheel a few months ago and it's been rattling a bit... Zimmerman replacement rotors and Hawk HP+ pads. Bled the entire system too. New belts. 24# injectors and matching JC chip. I already have the JC euro hfm intake... Well, here are my thoughts. The MT-90 definately helps out with the tranny rattling caused by the ltw flywheel. Makes most, if not all of it go away. I'm very happy about this... The zimmerman rotors are very nice. Bolt right on, work well. I would've put euro floaters in front, but they would've bumped me a class in auto-x, so I decided not to use em. The Hawk HP+ pads grip really, really well. Their initial bite is very good and once they get a little heat in them, they grab like a mother. I haven't had a chance to really beat on them, so I don't know their track characteristics... So far, so good. The belts were definately needed. Before my AC would really kinda jerk on and off, with the new belts it's a much smoother engagement. And finally, the 24# injectors/chip. I've only put 120 miles on the car so far, but you can tell a difference. It feels a little more responsive down low and it has more power up top from 5000-7000 rpm. It's very smooth in its delivery as well. Before at idle I had a little miss, that's completely gone now. So far, so good! Oh, I also learned a very valuable lesson today. If all you're doing is bleeding the brake calipers, you can just get by with 1 quart of fluid. However, if you're bleeding the brakes AND the clutch slave cylinder, you NEED 2 quarts! I found this out the hard way today, and bleeding the slave cylinder is a real PITA! -josh ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! I may be running some SCCA races down south during the peak of summer, so I'm looking into it. Most systems are in the $350-$400 range. I seem to remember someone saying something about a BMWCCA or PCA member that sells them for a good price. Looking for something along the lines of this: http://www.coolshirt.net/SQLCart/engine.asp?cmd=showitem&ItemID=290&ImageSize=Medium Jeremy Lucas 95 M3

Yeah - I've never understood why putting heavy weight oil in a transmission specified to use relatively thinner ATF is a good idea. Strikes me as the cure being worse than the disease, even if it works. Neil 96 M3
