They support Boston Chapter BMWCCA. Speak with Frank and tell him I said hello. (They tend to be super busy as well). 2nd Preference: Allston Auto Works. Right on the C Greenline on Brighton Ave in Allston. Speak with Abdullah. I know him well and he should be able to take care of you quickly. If its frame damage, I would go with Dicks. For minor body work, Allston Auto is fine. Sorry but you will have to 411 on both of them. Goodluck. Ahmad Lutfeali 98 M3/2 Atlanta

If so, would I need to tuck the rear fenders? I ran Hoosier 245/40/17s without problem (in the past). Currently, I have Yoko 032R 245/45/17s mounted on them and there were no issues. Stacking them neck to neck, the Kumhos seem a bit wider. Thanks in advance. Ahmad

#4. Knock Code Gone?!? - from Steve Klein

Date: Wed, 9 Jul 2003 09:45:22 -0700 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Knock Code Gone?!? After getting the #1226 Knock Sensor code over a week ago, I checked the codes again last night and was suprised to get the 'all's nominal' #1444. Does it seem strange that the codes would 'disappear'? Since I suspect the fault wasn't with the actual sensor (replaced by my shop about a year ago), could it have been a transient glitch? Wouldn't the code still be stored, even if it was a passing condition? No code reading or resetting tool has been used, nor the battery disconnected. Thanks in advance for clarifying this puzzler! Steve

Steve, Though I haven't dealt with this on my M3, I and others have experienced this on Nissan Maxima's. In fact, the recommended pcd for the Maxima when a knock sensor code comes up is to clean the connector where the harness splices into the main harness. The CW on the Maxima boards is that the knock sensor rarely is the problem. Hope this data point helps. Rob, Where did you get the dual pressure sender (and do you have a part number from VDO?)? I assume that I could use this and avoid having to buy the ODB in the first place as long as I use the drain plug temperature sender. VDO Oil Pressure Sender 0-80 PSI/5 Bar, M12x1.5K 8.5 PSI warning, $57.96 Part No: 360-007 Notes: 10-180 Ohms Single Station (for one gauge). Standard Ground. With warning contact for warning light. http://egauges.com/vdo_send.asp?Sender=80PSI_5Bar_VDO&Cart= The 8.5 PSI warning is 1 PSI higher than the stock sensor, but that's probably a GOOD thing. I haven't purchased/installed this sender yet, so i'm not certain that it will work, so... at your own risk, blah, blah, blah. :-P Chuck Brazeau 1995 BMW M3 - Violet on Black SCCA Solo2 - Street Modified #95 http://www.brazeauracing.com/ In a message dated 7/9/2003 11:38:28 AM Eastern Standard Time, shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com writes: > Rob, > > Where did you get the dual pressure sender (and do you have a part number > from VDO?)? I've been considering the purchase of a new 330i sedan with the ZHP Performance Package. This option includes a cloth/alcantara interior (leather seating is a $1K+ option). My wife thinks I'm crazy to get cloth seats, but there's nothing about leather that I really like... except the smell after a good coating of Leatherique! I'm just curious how the cloth interior will hold up over time. For those of you driving a cloth-interior BMW from 199x, how do they look now? Are they a pain to keep clean? Do you miss the leather smell? What does the cloth interior smell like on a car with 100K miles? It's obviously been a lot of years since I had a car with a cloth interior!
