FWIW, I had driven a cloth seat '89 E30 for 6 years, between 90K and 230K miles, before selling it last year. Even the "comfort" BMW cloth seats in that car were grippier than the E36M3 leather clad Vaders. Cloth was absolutely God sent in summer TX heat where no amount of AC will keep your back from sweating and clinging to the leather. Maintenance was great, as in there was none. At about 10 year/200K mile mark the driver side cloth bottom needed replacement (~$50 for a new perfectly matching piece at the dealer). > Do you miss the leather smell? Absolutely NOT. > What does the cloth interior smell like on a car with 100K > miles? Nothing unusual. > It's obviously been a lot of years since I had a car with a > cloth interior! I honestly wish that at least one of my E36s had cloth interior. If not for the American "leather is luxury" prejudice, that might have been feasible. As it stands, the resale value of your bimmer will take a significant hit if it does not have leather and a freaking sunroof. alex f

Those 245/45/17 are too tall for our applications. Erik Lind MPACT Motorsports

Hey folks, I saw some good reviews of the P-Zero Nero tires on Tirerack's site. They had a direct comparison with S03's and Pilot Sports, and the Neros did extremely well. I'm just about sold - does anyone have any personal experience specifically with with Neros? I'd love to hear about it if you wouldn't mind. #7. Lightweight battery disadvantages? - from Carl Stern

This is on a 95 with original battery. I didn't charge it yet, but I'm guessing this thing must be nearing end of life anyway at 8 years old. There has been talk of a lightweight battery (Dyna-batt?) that saves something like 35 lbs. Being the skeptic that I am, I assume something must be traded off for that missing mass. So, what will I give up if I go that route? Dollars, cold start capability, output, lifetime? thanks, Carl 95 M3 26k

The huge potholes we get during the winter hasn't caused them any harm yet, but I'm sure the increased sidewall of the 16" tires helps that too. - rob =================================================================== EASY and FREE access to your email anywhere: http://Mailreader.com/ ===================================================================

Anyway, they've been around awhile, I think they're pretty good quality. Only thing is, I once heard that their wheels are heavy. This could be insignificant to your friend, or it could simply be untrue. A simple checking of the specs for the Avus in that size versus other known wheels would tell you whether it's true or not. I'm not sure what a 17" wheel *should* weigh, so I can't really say... - reid On Wednesday, Jul 9, 2003, at 12:18 US/Pacific, Rob Verenna wrote: > Date: Wed, 9 Jul 2003 15:12:08 -0400 > From: Rob Verenna <rob@willraceforbeer.com> > Subject: Re: Any experience with TSW wheels? > > Nick Somma wrote: >> A co-worker of mine is looking at buying a set of 17x8 TSW Avus > R wheels. >> They are at a good price and look to be in good condition. Are they a pain to keep clean? Do you miss the leather smell? What does the cloth interior smell like on a car with 100K miles?..." I still have my 1987 325 which I purchased new. It has a dark blue wool "houndstooth" cloth interior. Our kids were young back then, so it received its share of spills, etc. It has worn like iron. The car now has 130,000 miles and the outside bolster on the drivers seat is beginning to become threadbare. Other than that everything looks (and smells) like new. Patrick Dargan
