#4. Battery again - from Carl Stern
Top
Date: Fri, 11 Jul 2003 11:21:18 -0600 From: Carl Stern <Carl.Stern@xilinx.com> Subject: Battery again Ok, so I decided against the lightweight SLA/dry cell type battery. I guess the Interstate is the way to go. I called my local electric guy and asked about the so called new MT 92, which is an exact replacement. It costs $139, and the MT 91 which people have been using is $95. Is mounting the 91 or modifying the vent tube on the 91 a hassle? Is it worth the extra $45 for a drop in fit? The 92 is rated at 640 CCA and has 135 min reserve. They both are top of line 72 month warranty. Are his prices in line? thanks, Carl 95 M3 26K (p.s. as far as me not driving the car enough, I bought it 2 years ago with only 14k on it. So I can't really take the credit for the low miles. Thankfully there are garage queens out there.)

When I hit a small bump, like a 1 inch rise at the end of a bridge; the car sounds like it just hit a curb! It's so loud and so hard that i'm worried about damaging the rest of the suspension. > What is the chance you have 'aftermarket' suspension bushings in addition to lowered ride height? I believe all of the non-rubber bushings (poly-to-aluminum) will transmit more 'road' noise to the cabin! Kim Burgess

Sedan has a different tail light than that of its counterpart, hence 'no go'. You coming to the track tomorrow no? Look for a green coupe with a smiley :) driver behind its wheel. I'll keep an eye for you. A.L. 98 M3/2 Atlanta. I'll be keeping the 97 and selling the 96. The 96 coupe has clear tail lights and front turn signals which I would like to keep. Are these parts identical or does the sedan require different parts?

You do have to ask for the special vent tube for the battery. It doesn't need any modifications to fit. -Bobby ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carl Stern" <Carl.Stern@xilinx.com> > > Ok, so I decided against the lightweight SLA/dry cell type battery. > > I guess the Interstate is the way to go. It's basically an extension because the battery vent is in a different location on the MT 91 than the OEM. Otherwise perfect fit. Why there is a $45 difference is a good question. the 91 is slightly shorter than the OEM and you have to use a different hold down hole. Maybe the 92 is the OEM size? Also, there is an MT and an MTP. One is a direct fit except for the vent hole. The other has reversed terminals. I don't remember which is the one we need.
