Perhaps the shift lever was oriented 180 degrees (read backwards) when the selector rod was connected? But if you're happy with it in that position, then that's fine. I'm in the Denver area. Anyway.... Hoosiers are still the best. They are light weight and provide plenty of traction. I found that in my era of learning and not having any money..was to buy used hoosiers from experienced drivers whom only use the treat 50% of the time. They usually part a whole set for a $100. I have a 95 M3 as well and I found that hoosier 245/235 40 17, AS303 work the best. If you are still on the stock rims, then the 235s are perfect. 245 on a rim smaller than an 8" is pushing it.. but not 100% effective. I had BFGs and found the hoosiers gave me an extra second at least. If Hoosiers are still not your flavor... the Kuhmo Victos are nice and rather cheap. If you want a REALLY good street tire that is still fairly good at Autocross(and in rain) are the Falcon Azena(?). Hope this helps.. and let me know where ya autocross. See above link for all the other GB details. GB price is at $429 (regular is $459) They also offer a "Hi-po" version for $529 (regular is $559) that comes with alloy thermostat housing, thermostat (any temp), fan, and fan clutch. So for an extra $100 you get $200+ worth of parts. We are still trying to get the minimum 10 people to get the better pricing. If you order today, you can have it shipped at the regular price until we get the minimum 10 people, at which time you wil be refunded the difference. Thanks for listening. -Justin -- '76 02 '97 m3 (84,xxx miles, new radiator soon) bmw cca checkout http://www.bmw2002.net

Date: Tue, 15 Jul 2003 11:31:52 -0700 From: Peter Fanning <p.fanning@verizon.net> Subject: Re: Need new race tires, opinions? Josh, I don't have any auto-x experience with these tires but I can give my $0.02 on track use. The reference car is a '98 M3/4 with Koni SA's, stock springs, stock anti-sway bars, KMAC's and x-brace driven at a fair pace. The A032 is no better than a good street tire like an S-03. The A032 will last longer on track but won't grip better. I only tried one set of these. I don't know anything about the 'new' compound. The Kumho Victoracer's are an OK tire but they do get greasy when hot and become inconsistent over a session. I've had some quality problems with these in the past (internal belt separation). I've used three sets of these. You may not have the quality problem auto-crossing due to much less heat build-up. They're not quite the optimum size. The Kumho V700's are the worst tire I've used on track. They are less consistent than the Victoracers and last nanoseconds (well, maybe a little longer) at which time they blister and cord. I tried two sets; one at molded depth and one shaved, no difference. When they still have tread they have more grip than the A032 and Victoracer. You may not have the wear problem auto-crossing due to much less heat build-up. I just used the RA-1 for this first time on track last weekend, my initial impression is very favorable. I think they grip better than any of the others and appear to wear better than the Kumho's. They also remain consistent over a session and don't seem to overheat. The RA-1 can be hard to get, Vilven Tire has been good to work with for ordering and they can shave them to your preference; 4-32 for race, 6-32 for school and best wear rate. Another tire I've heard good things about are the Michlen Pilot Sport Cup. It appears they wear well and have grip as good or better than the RA-1. The down side is cost and limited sizes.
