#2. Aux Fan not working - from M-Power

Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 17:46:59 -0500 From: "M-Power" <M-Power@austin.rr.com> Subject: Aux Fan not working My Aux Fan does not seem to be working correctly. If the air conditioner is on, the Aux Fan is on. Without the air conditioner on, the Aux Fan does not ever seem to come on. I checked the fan by wire jumping the connector and it worked, but the information in Bentley is not what is in my car. It say that the Brown wire is terminal 1, Black/Green wire is terminal 2 and Black/Grey wire is terminal 3. In my car it is Brown wire is terminal 2, Black/Green wire is terminal 3 and Black/Grey wire is terminal 1. I changed the Temperature Switch and it still doesn't work. Is the wiring wrong in my car, if not, any other ideas? The reason I checked this is @ the track yesterday after about 6-8 laps, in high 90's, the water temperature went up to the white line. Thanks, Jim Hagerman

I planned to replace the RTABs this summer, but after the last DE, >I'm wondering if they're really bad. > For what it's worth, I never really realized anything major on mine either, and I had my originals in for about 100k miles. It was only just before I changed them that I sort of started to notice the very occasional pull to one side under acceleration, but it wasn't constant. It wasn't until after I had them replaced that I really figured out just how bad they were. It was a rather slow degradation of handling, so it didn't stand out much until the car was better. I then realized how solid the car felt over freeway bot dots and that the rear was much more "planted" under acceleration and through the turns. #6. High-capacity radiators? - from Mark Dadgar

Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 23:04:12 -0700 From: Mark Dadgar <mark@pdc-racing.net> Subject: High-capacity radiators? So it was 104 in the shade at Thunderhill on Thursday. I was seeing water temps as high as 245 degrees during hard running (the sender is spliced into the upper radiator hose) and that was on about the 3rd lap of a session. Radiator and hoses are fairly new. Time to do something about that, I think. No way would the car last a full race. There's been a lot of discussion on better radiators lately. I know Bimmerworld has a Fluidyne unit available for $690 or so. Are there other options I should look at? Thanks. - Mark, JP/A5 325is in-progress -- mark@pdc-racing.net

Hudson" <jwhud@cdsnet.net> Subject: Alpine IVA-D900 in-dash Rcvr/CD/DVD If anyone is looking for a hi-end video piece, I have a brand new, never opened, still in shipping carton from Alpine, IVA-D900 for sale. I won it in a contest and don't want to use it. I'd rather turn it into BMW parts. This is an in-dash Receiver, CD/DVD player with a 7" video screen. It plays MP3s and is XM satellite ready. It's Alpine's primo video piece. For more info, go to: http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html Click Products, Product Models. Then Use the Quick Model Search to enter IVA-D900. Sorry I couldn't get a direct link to the page. Something to do with Alpine's site. Retail on this piece is $2200. I want $1500 + actual shipping and insurance from Medford, OR, 97501. The carton weighs 18 lbs. Sorry Hosers, I'm not willing to fuss with customs. So if you don't have a friend south of the border, you'll have to wait for next time, eh? Contact me off line with any interest or questions. Jay

Unless your car is overheating or running with AC, the aux. fan should never come on. If it did, you would be going through $300 aux. fan in short order. > I changed the Temperature Switch and it still doesn't work. Is the > wiring wrong in my car, if not, any other ideas? The White Line above the red area on the temperature gauge. It stayed to the left of the line, but it had moved from center.
