They're gas-charged shocks, and by their very nature, are not adjustable (at least at low-end price points). Pat I would go with Koni single adjustables. Great shocks and can get a complete set for around $400. Koni does make an external adjustable rear shock now..which makes all soo easier when going from street to track and back to street. I've been using them for a few years now and swear there is little to no difference between the singles and double adj. I didnt care for bilsteins for the ride was a little rougher.. even at full soft Michael 95 M3

In fact, my car-savvy friends have commented on how smooth the ride is over the rough back country roads in my area. However, shox.com offered me two sets of H+R springs at the time of sale - one that lowered the car by a lot, and one that lowered by a little. I chose to lower it by a little, and with the pressurized Bilsteins, the car has remained just slightly below stock ride height. Perhaps that extra suspension travel I retained is the key. - Chris, very happy with his Bilstein-equipped ride

Slightly heavy they are. But the chassis is immensely rigid, and feels as if it could easily accept lots more horsepower. Soft? Well the E46 M3 suspension is certainly *less* soft than any E36 M3. Of course any non-M E46 will feel soft compared to an E36 M3, just as any non-M E36 will. But factory suspension calibration doesn't really matter that much, since it's so easy to change to suit one's tastes or needs. But the fundamentals of the chassis are what they are. > But what troubles > me the most about the PP is that it doesn't come with a limited slip dif. You got my attention here - I've considered somehting along those lines too, in one car or the other. Both interiors need less leather/vinyl and more color. In fact, if you have the "3-Series Enthusiast's Companion" check page126 -- that's the interior I want. Are you doing door panels too? Got pix of your fabric selections? Keep us posted! #10. Newbie Intro...and questions - from Dave Bell
Top
Date: Tue, 22 Jul 2003 23:30:12 -0400 From: Dave Bell <davebell@cox.net> Subject: Newbie Intro...and questions Greetings, all. First off, many thanks to all the contributors to this list....I just purchased a 95 M3 at the end of June (I finally got into the 90s after many years with an E30 and E28), and the content the last 3 weeks has been GREAT. Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with the some of the finer nuances of this beast and have a few questions: 1) How serious is a knock sensor failure? I'm getting code 1226 (Thanks for the gas pedal tip!) - knock sensor #2. As far as I can tell, then engine is running fine and just passed smog. Is this something that only gets important if you get a bad batch of gasoline? 2) Previous owner apparently put on on cross-drilled rotors with PBR Deluxe pads (I know, I know). Without starting a "religious" discussion, what is a reasonable setup for the street with the occasional autocross? I'm familiar with Porterfield R4S, and ran MetalMasters with stock rotors on my E28, which was sufficient. What's the deal with Euro "floating" rotors? 3) Is there a fix for the vader seats when the latch to move the seat forward (as if you were getting in the back seat) breaks? Again, many thanks to all.....I hope to be here for awhile as this car is just incredible - at least compared to my old 84 318i and 85 535i. Dave Bell davebell@cox.net 85 535i, 185,000 and still ticking...but that's just the injectors 95 M3 - 100000 fewer miles, 10 years newer. It shows.
