Are they still bringing a 2 over here? Just make it 5k more than the most expensive Mini. -Jonathan '95 M3 (Just exactly too big and heavy for my tastes) '92 Miata (just about right with a hardtop on. Just needs 100 more lb/ft of torque) I can replace both of the above the 2001 M coupe. Oh yes, she will be mine...

#2. Airbag Light Info & Question - from Patrick Dargan

Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2003 11:34:17 -0400 From: "Patrick Dargan" <darg01@earthlink.net> Subject: Airbag Light Info & Question Several months ago the Airbag light came on in my '99 M3. I took it to the dealer and they replaced a part on the passenger side seat belt. This was done under warranty, although, at the time, the car was about 2-months out of warranty. Recently, the airbag light came on again. The dealer said that it was a problem with the same seatbelt, but that in the meantime, they had received a service bulletin involving resistance problems with the wiring for the belt tensioner. The bill listed: 5 cable straps 2 connectors 2 shrink tubes 1 repair cable Anyone with a similar problem might want to check this out. ? When I went to pick up the car they said that since, it was the same item as before, they did not charge me the $50 deductible. Does anyone know what the "$50 deductible" is about? ( I didn't have time to discuss the matter further and they were closing.)

I spent months trying to find my M3/4 because almost all the M3/4's I looked at had automatic transmissions. It took quite a while to find an M3/4 with a 5 speed. Most auto reviewers (European Car, Motor Trend, Edmunds...) all seem to think that this car was only available with an automatic trans thereby enforcing that notion.

Hmmm, I thought they sold more M3/4's than regular M3's the two years they were produced. -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com

Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2003 19:46:07 -0400 From: "Rick Cardinal" <cardinar@bellsouth.net> Subject: RE: coolant leak > snip> > Hot upper hose == open thermostat. Not to start anything, but a hot upper hose doesn't mean for sure the thermostat is open. If the lower is cold, top hot, and the engine is above normal operating temp, the thermostat is closed, or at least not opening all the way. On normal temp operation, the lower hose will be warm, but not hot..that's the point of the radiator. ;-) I just proved this Wednesday on my M3. After replacing the pump, housing, hoses, clamps, thermostat and radiator, the car still was overheating. Top hose will get hot, but the lower doesn't. I replaced the thermostat again per Brett Anderson's suggestion, and bingo, back to normal. Also, I don't understand why folks think a failed water pump will result in loss of fluid. The pump itself won't leak,(unless you get the o-ring I guess) but the result of overheating can blow off hoses and break radiator necks, head gaskets etc etc. Rick

Also according to the "Companion" the sedans out-sold the coupes in calendar years 1997 & 1998 (pgs 249, 250). From page 298, US sales: 1997: Coupes - 3405, Sedans - 4535 1998: Coupes - 2661, Sedans - 3225 My 2 cents, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4
