Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 00:27:43 EDT From: Msebmwman@aol.com Subject: Hawk HPS pads for street: anyone here use? any squealing issues? Hi all; I'm interested in using Hawk HPS pads as an aggressive street pad. I already use Hawk HT-10 for the track and the one track day I used them they worked great for me in warm temps. For those that have HPS pads have you had any problems with pad squealing in slow, fast, cold, hot or other conditions? I presume they have clips so they don't rattle in the calipers. Thanks, Marc 95M3 LTW for sale; see http://www.spgmotorsports.com/ltw/ 95M3 regular for street and track

I've had Hawk HPS for nearly a year on the rear wheels (with Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors) with no squeal/squeak or other problems and a significant reduction in dust over stock pads. Be aware, I live in San Diego area so "cold" is not in my database. Date: Tue, 05 Aug 2003 11:49:58 +0000 From: "Joseph Bachman III" <josephbachman@hotmail.com> Subject: OT: US Grand Prix I just bought my tickets for the U.S. grand prix at Indy, and am hoping some of you on the list can give me some guidance on what to do and where to stay. I've got Fri/Sat tickets, and raced day tickets overlooking turns 1-7. Anyone have suggestions of where to stay (in town vs. near track)? Is there good nightlife, and where? Are there any BMW specific things I should make sure to check out/participate in? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm pretty excited, as this will be my first F1 race... I've been running Hawk HPS front and rear on my 97 coupe for about a year. Some track days, mostly street. Yes they squeal. I used orange goop and no clips. Unsuspecting passengers cringe, but I just let them know I paid extra for the priveledge. The squealing isn't louder than the stereo however. They have held up well for three or four track weekends and street driving. They bite better when warmed up a bit, but are fine in the cold (mid atlantic). Steve Stoner

I am thinking about changing the ring & pinion on my E46M3 and I was given the Motorsport part # but I don't have any idea how one goes about purchasing the parts. Does anyone here know? I am 99% certain the part number is 3312 7768525 but I would want to confirm that before purchase. Thanks, -Wayne

I had them for a while, front and rear, on my autox'd car. They were fine for the first 5k miles or so. However, after that, they started squealing incessantly at all temperatures. No amount of anti-squeal goo helped. They were bad enough that I replaced them. YMMV. Wow, two of the three headlines on the City of Santa Clara website are about crime: http://www.ci.santa-clara.ca.us/ I would get a cheap camera that you can hook up to your computer and put it on a motion sensor. Here's one for $120: http://www.starkelectronic.com/core.htm I'd imagine you could rig one up for less, and I'm sure a more thorough web search than my 15 second one would yield some inexpensive DIY solutions. I don't think it matters which way you were parked, sounds like you would have lost a bumper anyhow.
