Also, when I bedded in my last new set of 97s (at night), they gave off quite a show with all the sparks and left crap on my paint behind the front wheels. Overall I'm not extremely pleased with the 97s. I'm thinking of trying Blues, HT-10s, or DS3000s. Open to suggestions. Now if I can just firm up that brake pedal. Josh, I believe that Ben @ Rogue (list supporter) also has a special deal going on these wheels. Tire Rack has great service, but Ben has gone the extra mile for me in the past, and it's good karma to support those who support you. ;) Here's the link: http://www.rogueengineering.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=RE&Category_Code=SPEC Jason (no affiliation w/ Rogue, just a satisfied customer) -------------------- 9 -------------------- Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 12:00:45 -0700 (PDT) From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> Subject: Anyone running the Kosei K-1 wheels? Just noticed that Tire Rack has these in a 17x8.5 fitment for our cars. Pretty reasonable price as well, and they're feather light. <snip> __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Anyone currently running these to comment on > rubbing, fitment, quality, etc? I've got a set in 17x8.5 on my E36 race car and I ran them in 15x8 on my old E30 M3. GREAT wheels. Cheap, light, and easy to clean. What more do you want? Rubbing depends on your tires. I'm running 255 Kumhos and we had to roll the hell out of all the fenders to get them to fit. But they fit. Mostly. A narrower tire would be just fine. - Mark -- mark@pdc-racing.net

I now run with minimal anti-squeal goop and the pads make a little noise when hot, otherwise they are silent after at least 10k miles. #8. Disconnecting Factory Radio - from Mike Frank

Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 16:49:45 -0500 From: "Mike Frank" <mfrank28@comcast.net> Subject: Disconnecting Factory Radio Could some please describe how to get the large connector off the back of the factory radio. I've got it out of the dash and have pulled off the two small connectors, but the big once is being stubborn. I've pulled up the "latch" as pictured on the top about 1/4-3/8", but it's not obvious what to do next. Pulling and prying in various directions hasn't accomplished anything. Instead of forcing it and making a potentially expensive mistake, I figured I'd ask the list since I know half of you probably already put in aftermarket decks. Once I get this thing out it might not make it back in either. Thanks, Mike Frank 97 M3

Marc, I've used hawk HPS front & rear for 2 years now without any squeal. I switched due to the excessive dust created by the stock pads. IIRC, the stock pads are excessively dusty due to the TÜV requirements that necessitate a high graphite content. I have used the pads in temperatures ranging from -10ºF to 100+ºF and in all conditions, dry / rain / snow, without a hint of squeal. My 97 coupe has been upgraded to the vented floating front rotors with 5 machined slots on each face. As an anti-squeal agent, I've used things ranging from the BMW bremsklotzpaste to the (IMO) nasty CRC red stuff. BTW, I don't grandmother the car either. Jeremy
