I currently have Toyo T1-S all around on my M3. The previous set of tires were also Toyos. There is a lot of wear on the outer left edge of all tires. This is more prominent on left tires than than right. I used to drive aggressively getting on/off highway ramps. I thought this contributed to it, but saw wear even after I started driving less aggressively. The tires look bald on the left edge and pretty good ever where else. They only have 15k miles on them. I wonder if this is a problem with Toyos. Does the car need some kind of alignment? I live in bay area, so would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations about alignment shops. #3. Hood shock ?s & Needed - from eevans@planetc.com

Date: Wed, 20 Aug 2003 13:41:08 -0400 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: Hood shock ?s & Needed Anyone experienced BOTH hood shocks go out at the same time w/o any warning e.g., as in getting a little weak slowly over time so that you know you need new ones? My hood literally went from opening and staying open w/ no problems or one side slightly lower than the other, to both completely dead the next day. Is there some other reason that could have disabled both shocks? So anybody have a pair of hood shocks for an E36 3 series for sale? TIA Evan

Well, the PBR/Repco Deluxe and Metal Masters simply suck IMO and really are just too cheap and crappy a pad for an M3, again IMO. I tried them on my E30 and took them off after 6 months. They just don't offer much in dry performance, even less wet, but they don't dust quite as much as stock pads. Currently, I think Ferodo Premier and Axxis Ultimates are probably better choices. I am trying the Ferodos on my E30 currently and they are great in the dry, I just haven't used them in the wet yet but they are European pads so they should perform well in the wet. Too early to tell on the dust but appears to be less than Jurid/Textar. Axxis Ultimates also seem to have a good rep for a less expensive street pad and dust much less. Best regards, Rich

Once again, this list is awesome! :-) My express-up feature failed on the driver side window a few days ago. Oddly, only a short while after the "erratic window" thread had surfaced, but the timing was of course great for me since it's fresh in mind! Anyway, I repeated the list's instruction and fixed it promptly! :-) My otherwise trip to the mechanic (car out of warranty) was saved... :-) Definitely keep the interesting (technical or otherwise) discussions going, and I'll continue to eavesdrop... :-P Philip '99 Estoril M3/2...not completely stock... Which is it, the outer edge or the left edge :-) I assume you mean the outer edge. > Does the car need some kind of alignment? Tire wear on the outer edges of the rear tires usually indicates an issue with toe (or a worn out suspension). Regards, Rich

If its 96+ then you have the staggered setup and less negative camber in the front which is why you are burning out the front tires. It makes sense you are eating up the front left since you are hard charging those corners. 2 things you can do, take them corners slowly :P or add negative camber. I run -2 and its an overkill for the streets and just about OK on the track. I wanted to use them with my new set of triple adjust Motons, but the shafts on the Motons are way too fat for the mounts. I never got a chance to return them, and I obviously don't need them. They are still wrapped in their original packing. Here's their description: http://store.yahoo.com/jtdesigns/rearshocmoun.html RSM list is $105 + shipping. Selling for $75 (shipping included) Thanks, Lee '95 M3 Violet
