Hey guys, Ever since I put in my axxis ultimate pads I've noticed that the left front wheel gets much dustier, much faster than the right front wheel. Nothing appears to be dragging, etc... Any thoughts? -josh ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! #2. adjustable camber plate question - from Mdriver13@aol.com

Date: Thu, 23 Oct 2003 22:06:54 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: adjustable camber plate question Group, I thought I remember someone once saying that when they installed adjustable camber plates the front ride height went up. Is this true, especially if you run OE springs with Koni SA's???? What has been the experience of others? I'm particularly interested in the TC Kline camber plates or the KMACs. KMacs have rubber (poly?) bushings while the TCK and GC plates are spherical so not as good for street use. I think they're also for coil-overs. -Bobby ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Teague" <cteague@cox.net> > > Bob, > > I have the TCKline plates. They will lower the car about > 1/4" or so. That's why I got them. The GC units do require coilovers since they have a thrust bearing to take the vertical load. But both do have metal bearings. GC also makes a street plate with some compliance built in, but I think it still needs coilovers. Everybody says they raise your car but I measured them before I installed them and I couldn't find any difference. I didn't notice any difference in my ride height afterwards either so I'll have to say they don't raise your height. Like Robert said, they have urethane centers so they are the most comfortable camber plates around. I have over 40,000 miles on mine and they still look good. The stock strut hats were showing cracks after just 30,000 miles. KMac's are not the most adjustable camber plates. And they are not real easy to adjust. If you want precise adjustments, you might want the TCK plates. Lowell Seaton '95 M3 Dallas, TX

The usual suspects, signs of excessive heat, torn/cracked rubber boot... etc. I really don't know how to "check" the piston travel except to remove the caliper to the workbench. At that point, for $20 you can rebuild it in less than an hour as long as the piston is not damaged. bimmerparts.com has the kit for $14 - you will need brake grease and some new fluid as well. I found my left front was sticking after it boiled my brake fluid - causing me to sail off the end of the straight at Pocono earlier this month. Testing like that can be expensive and dangerous - maybe someone will respond with a less involved diagnosis ;)

On adjustability, say if you only wanted to go from minimum camber to maximum camber and back (from street to autox to street), would that adjustment be easy? Also, would this take you from 0.5 to 2.5 negative camber? Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA BSP Champ '01 and '02
