To make it worse it is just a few months after my insurance went back down after the same thing happened several years ago! Does anyone have a recommendation for a body shop in Houston, preferably near the Clear Lake area? Luckily it was raining and I decided to take the truck instead of the M3... Dave 95 M3 98 Trooper

#5. [E36M3] Stuff FS cheap: '95 stock exhaust, swaybars, track wheels - from Garrett McWilliams

Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 12:39:00 -0500 From: Garrett McWilliams <garrettmcw@yahoo.com> Subject: [E36M3] Stuff FS cheap: '95 stock exhaust, swaybars, track wheels w/V700s and Schroths, etc. Group, As the subject line says...getting rid of some spares and take-offs hanging around the house. The exhaust has about 60k on it and is in good shape. Swaybars have 75k, excellent. I also have: -a set of black Schroth Rally4 harness belts -a set of Cromodora (Italian, strong, not light) track wheels with fairly fresh Kumho Ecsta V700s on them -Bentley manual -F&R sets of Hawk HP+ pads -misc coolant hoses--the ones that go under the intake manifold -Autometer A-pillar two-guage pod -All parts to install oil pressure and oil temp guages in sunglass tray or A-pillar, including JT oil dist. block and teflon-jacketed wire. -Updated HVAC airflap cam/gear assembly. Regarding the recent thread, the reason for sale would have a lot to do with driving in snow on high-performance tires without traction control. Not recommended :-( -Garrett

#6. do these really work? - from Hunt Hodgetts

Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 15:05:29 -0800 (PST) From: Hunt Hodgetts <hhodgetts@yahoo.com> Subject: do these really work? Right now on ebay I saw a listing for "Plasma Ignition Coils" for the E36 M3. Is there any true benefit from products like these or are they basically a gimmick or do they have any negative side effects? #8. 99 M3 Electrical Gremlins - from Chad Milam
Top
Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 15:58:13 -0800 (PST) From: Chad Milam <m_three99@yahoo.com> Subject: 99 M3 Electrical Gremlins Group, My 99 m3/2 has been plagued lately with electrical gremlins. It started with a quirky left turn indicator that sometimes goes fast (as if a bulb were out, but they aren't), then proceeded to having the windshield washer jets heater and door lock heaters quit, yet other things on the same circuit funtion normally. Now its to the point where the HVAC computer shuts off everytime the auxilary electric fan turns on. To say the least this is really frustrating. The car has its original battery still, could this be related? Am I seeing these gremlins as a function of low voltage? Could there be a problem with the thermal switch that controls the windsheild washer jet heaters? Any ideas or avenues to pursue would be great, as I am seriously lost. Thanks, Chad __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New Yahoo! Photos - easier uploading and sharing. http://photos.yahoo.com/

#10. need help with E36 electrical seat and speedometer gremlins - from alex.fadeev@verizon.com
Top
Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 23:33:29 -0600 From: alex.fadeev@verizon.com Subject: need help with E36 electrical seat and speedometer gremlins I have two separate problems on two E36 cars and would appreciate any suggestions, insights or BTDT accounts on either one: 1. '95 M3's speedometer has gotten "lazy" as the ambient temperature is dropping precariously close to the 40F mark down here in TX. When the car is cold, the speedometer needle sticks to either zero or whatever last speed reading it decides to emphasize. The needle can stay there for a 10-60 seconds at a time until it decides to move to another setting. After ~10 minutes of driving (as the car warms up?) everything returns back to normal and stays that way until the next cold start. Tachometer works, the mileage is counted correctly and resetting the MPH on the OBC shows the correct current speed. Any ideas? 2. '98 328i's driver front electric seat controls have lost the ability to raise the seat back. Very annoying. The seat will go forward, backward, tilt every way imaginable, recline the seat back, but NOT rise back up. I can hear the seat back motor running, but the back is not elevating. I have removed the seat back cover and can guesstimate that one of the two cylindrical shapes towards the rear is the seat back motor. The other is probably the transmission. There are not cables to be seen (a broken cable was my original hope) and no obvious troubleshooting approaches other than taking the two cylinders out and breaking them open. Anyone BTDT? Thanks in advance, -- alex f P.S.: Anyone in the DFW area who is not a LSC member: I have the TireRack fender roller. Drop me an email and come by my house if you want to use it (no charge).
