All four corners would be good. I just want to get a better idea of how much my car got lowered... Thanks! -josh ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I've decided not to go with them based on some people's first-hand experience and I'm currently seeking an alternative. Thanks again to everyone for their info and opinions! Are you planning to get your car on a set of scales? Dropping this or that end arbitrarily based upon looks is really not why those are adjustable... they let you position the center of gravity to balance the car. You can seriously effect the handling (usually not for the better) by guessing. If I recall, the NJ BMWCCA chapter has a set of corner scales they loan out to members...

Are they a 2-tone color with polished aluminum on the flat surfaces and silver paint on the curved arms? If yes to these questions, then you have the factory forged rims. The M Contour rims have 5 spokes but no slits in the arms. The other factory rim was the 20 spoke "pain in the rear" to clean rim. Looks like you just need to add a '95 M3 to have a complete set. :-) Lowell Seaton '95 M3 - polished forged BMW rims --------- Hunt asks: > > How can I tell if the wheels are indeed forged? > > > Hunt Hodgetts, Atlanta > 97 M3 Coupe Silver 125k - soon to be supercharged !! > 97 M3 Sedan Silver 62k > 99 M3 Convertible Blue 76k > 98 M3 Coupe White 50k > Can you guess what my favorite car is?

#9. Radiator replacement options? - from Bob Lenarcik
Top
Date: Wed, 24 Dec 2003 11:22:15 -0800 (PST) From: Bob Lenarcik <lenarcik@pacbell.net> Subject: Radiator replacement options? First, I'd like to wish everyone Happy Holidays! Second, I need to get some advice. I managed to "meet" an SUV with the front end of my M3 and I've now got a $4000 repair to deal with ($380 to deal with the SUV's scratched bumper). It was as much his fault as it was mine but I still will bear the cost. On the bright side, all those stone chips on the hood and front end will be gone! The radiator apparently wasn't damaged - I didn't see any fluid leakage, but I won't know for sure until the body shop gets the hood open. It's the original part with 108k miles so I figure it would be a good idea to have them replace it regardless. I know that Fluidyne has an aluminum replacement, but I remember reading that there was another option. Can someone offer input here (who makes it, who sells it, cost)? Also, are there any other items that I should consider replacing while the body shop has the front end apart? - Bob 97 M3/2

#10. Re: [E36M3] Argh! Rear Breakage - from Steve Klein

Date: Wed, 24 Dec 2003 13:26:08 -0800 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Argh! Rear Breakage Thank you guys for your responses. I just got the car back from the shop and it seems the rhythmic noise I am hearing with no load on the driveline while moving is the right half shaft CV joint. $850 installed. Ouch. Buy one today! They're priced to move! I can understand that since I had that replaced on my old Saab 900S and it sounded similar. What I'm trying to piece together is what chain of events could have caused the sudden change from a symptom that may have been present, but not audible, to one that is. I was driving steadily at about 30mph. up a 10deg. incline with a rather shoddy surface. I wouldn't associate jostling with problems in the CV joints, but rather age and wear. Any thoughts? All the subframe and diff. carrier bolts were fine, and the jack handle was loose as well as the battery tray lid, so those may have combined to mislead me into thinking that something had sheared loose. Plus having the seat back down. The car didn't make that noise over bumps on the drive home. Thank you all again for your input. I got my holiday suprise after all! Happy seasons and Solstice to you and yours. Peace, Steve
