Yeah, I know that what I am asking for is a contradiction, but what the heck, I figured that my friends on the list (who are ALL much wiser than I in matters such as this) may be able to steer me in the right direction... Anyone have a set of used rims they would like to sell? :) thanks Mo -----Original Message----- From: DocWyte [mailto:josh_wyte@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, December 26, 2003 5:57 PM To: Mo Karamat; E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] Track/Autox Rims & tires Suggestions? Well, I'm sure you see the contradiction in your sentence below... Light=$$$ You may be able to dig up a set of Kosei's from Rogue Engineering. Otherwise, the BBS RA isn't a bad choice. For tires the Toyo RA1 is a decent track tire, but doesn't really work too well at the auto-x. It takes too long to heat up and gives just slightly better performance than a street tire. I'd go with the old Kumho Victoracer if I were you. -josh --- Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> wrote: I want the > lightest rims I can > get, and still stay reasonable in price (read NO > $300-$400 rims).. ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? They are easily the best value wheels around (I have two sets for the race car). Buy some and show the manufacturers (and Tire Rack) that we need wheels like this. - Mark

ATS Competition 17x9 et. 40 are $145 each at tires.com They weigh about 22 lbs in that size (about same as OE) but if you have rolled lips you can easily go for the 255s and put more grip down. Check the rules first though. -----Original Message----- From: Mo Karamat [mailto:karamatm@optonline.net] Sent: Friday, December 26, 2003 6:22 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] Track/Autox Rims & tires Suggestions? A staggered set of OE 10 spokes or just 2 rear 8.5x17 to get me started. I'd consider better quality lightweight wheels but like Mo, I am not willing to part with major scratch for them. They don't need to be pretty, just true. PA/NY/NJ/DE area so I can pick them up. -- Walter Jordan =========================== | ______ 610.704.2280 (w) | /__ __\ | (oo-00-oo) wbj12@rcn.com | ========

I ordered a set of 17x8.5 Kosei's K-1 from Evosport. They were on their fall sale special for $180. TireRack has a shipment coming in Feb I was told. They are not on their web page, but is you call and mention you need them for track-DE duty they'll hook you up. Their price is $199. Regarding tires. I most likely will go with full tread Kumho Victoracer V700s. Note these are different than the ECSTA V700. which are the ones that has the chunking reputation, etc. HTH, Fernando '97 M3/4 (GC-ed) On Friday, December 26, 2003, at 05:11 PM, E36M3 wrote: > Date: Fri, 26 Dec 2003 17:44:15 -0500 > From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> > Subject: Track/Autox Rims & tires Suggestions? > > Dear All, > > Happy Holidays to all! They are quicker than the Toyos (see below), but last maybe half as long. For not much more money, for drivers schools/open track I'd go with the Toyos. >The other tires that a friend suggested >are the Toyo RA1's? I have heard good things about these tires... Any >thoughts about the tires, or sources? I ran the Toyos exclusively on the M3 when I was doing track schools. Great tire for that purpose (I even ran a handful of races on then). You can buy then full-tread, put then on at home, drive to the track, have fun all weekend, then drive home on them. Not the stickiest r-compounds, but wear extremely well. I highly recommend then as a driving school tire. I even autox on them. As other's have mentioned, they don't quite heat up enough, but they're not bad. They work great. I run a 17x9 SSR Integral wheel ( ET45), which I got from Tire Rack, but they don't have those anymore. I would keep looking for a 8.5" wheel and run the 255 Victoracers. I run 255 Kumhos as well. You'll need to roll the bejeesus out of your fenders and with a 9" wheel you'll also need a 5mm spacer in the front. They work great, though. - Mark

#10. Looking for good source for E36 M3 Brembo rotors - from Vern Anderson

Date: Sat, 27 Dec 2003 13:34:57 -0500 From: "Vern Anderson" <vernon_anderson@yahoo.com> Subject: Looking for good source for E36 M3 Brembo rotors Does anyone know a good source (read - cheap) for Brembo rotors, specifically for an E36 M3? I had a local source here in Pittsburgh for about $55-60 each, but they have just raised the price dramatically because their supplier re-priced them. A southern Florida source would be great as I'm moving my track car down there for the next 3-4 months. Thanks in advance for any info! Vern Anderson 98 M3/2
